Former world number one Jelena Jankovic will be heading to the Hong Kong Tennis Open later this year to defend her title, following a season troubled with injury and poor form.

British number one Johanna Konta will also be in action and will be looking to take the title after a strong season so far, as she looks to make the WTA Finals or the WTA Elite Trophy.

Furthermore, Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic, one of the best doubles teams in the world, will also be in action as they look to continue their impressive season.

Jankovic looking for 2015 Hong Kong form

It has been a terrible year for Jankovic, who has struggled with injury and has lost early in the vast majority of her tournaments, including a second round loss at the US Open to Carla Suarez Navarro just yesterday.

Having dropped out the Top 40 for the first time in over decade, and being ranked 77th for the year, the Serbian will be looking to regain her form from Hong Kong last year; seeded fourth, Jankovic beat Venus Williams in the semifinals before coming from a set down to beat Angelique Kerber in the final; she’ll be hoping for a similar performance this time around.

Konta looks for second WTA title

In contrast to Jankovic, Konta has had a fantastic year, reaching the semifinals at the Australian Open and winning her first WTA title at the Bank of the West Classic.

With the Brit in the hunt to make the WTA Finals in Singapore later this year (she’s currently tenth in the race), she’ll be looking to take the title here as aims to finish the season inside top 10.

Mladenovic and Garcia aim for another title

After a season which has seen the two take four titles together, including their home Grand Slam title at the French Open, Mladenovic and Garcia will be looking for another title as they look to finish their season in style.

The two may also use this tournament, as well as others throughout the Asian swing, to prove a point to the French Tennis Federation, who have suspended the two, ahead of the Fed Cup final in November.
