Major disappointment for Sofia Kenin today, who didn't look 100% physically towards the end of the match.

October 10, 2020 9:08 AM ET

Swiatek to serve first

Umpire Louise Engzell conducts the coin toss and it is Kenin who wins it.

The sixth seed chooses to receive, chucking Swiatek right in the deep end in her first Grand Slam final.

October 10, 2020 9:06 AM ET

Players on court

The players head onto court, with Swiatek seemingly getting the slightly better reception from the 1000 socially distanced fans present on Court Philippe Chatrier.

Not that she would have noticed, with 'Welcome to the Jungle' likely blaring out of her headphones as she strolled onto court.

October 10, 2020 9:03 AM ET

So much has been made about how tennis is getting older, though this match is perhaps another sign that players are breaking through at a younger age once again.

This will be the youngest Grand Slam final since Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic, both aged 20, played the Australian Open final in 2008.

October 10, 2020 9:02 AM ET

Evert: 'Serving will be an important aspect'

Chris Evert, who won seven of her 18 Grand Slam singles titles at Roland Garros, has highlighted serving as a key  factor in this final.

Evert believes that Swiatek will pick up more free points due to her bigger serve, whilst Kenin might struggle due to her weaker second serve.

'Serving will be an important aspect,' she says.

I think it's fair to say she knows what she is talking about.

Kenin hoping to emulate Kerber

A win for Kenin today would see her become the first woman since Angelique Kerber in 2016 to win multiple Grand Slams in a season.

She would also become the first person since Kerber to win her first and second Grand Slam titles in the same season.

October 10, 2020 8:39 AM ET

The world number 54 is also looking to become the first teenager since Iva Majoli in 1997 to win the title at Roland Garros.

23 years ago, Majoli beat reigning Australian Open champion Martina Hingis to win her sole major. Can Swiatek beat reigning Australian Open champion Kenin today?

October 10, 2020 8:37 AM ET

Swiatek looking to make history

Swiatek would become the first Polish player in history to win a Grand Slam singles title if she wins today, and would also be just the second person born in the 21st century to win a Grand Slam title- Bianca Andreescu became the first at the US Open last summer.

October 10, 2020 1:40 AM ET

Swiatek has arguably displayed the best form heading into the final and is the bookies’ favorite for victory, though Kenin has lost just one in 17 Grand Slam matches this season and is proving incredibly difficult to break down. It will be a fascinating contest.

October 9, 2020 6:37 PM ET

Unlike the US Open finals which were held behind closed doors, there will be 1000 socially distanced fans in the stands of the iconic Court Philippe Chatrier to witness this contest. 2000 ranking points will head the winner’s way.

October 9, 2020 6:32 PM ET

This will be the first WTA-level meeting between Swiatek and Kenin, though the two did meet in the junior tournament at Roland Garros four years ago. It was the Pole who prevailed on that occasion, though it will be interesting to see what has changed four years on.

October 9, 2020 6:27 PM ET

In contrast Kenin has had a trickier road to the final, dropping sets in four of her six matches. However, she has raised her game when it has mattered most this tournament and that was evident in her semifinal where she saw off two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in straight sets in her semifinal.

October 9, 2020 6:22 PM ET

Unseeded, Swiatek has amazed many with her tennis in Paris over the past fortnight. The teenager has not dropped a set on her way to the final, with a dominant win over top seed and world number two Simona Halep in the fourth round the highlight of her campaign so far.

October 9, 2020 6:17 PM ET

Poland's Swiatek is aiming to win not only her first Grand Slam title but also her first WTA title, whilst American Kenin is hoping to win a second slam of 2020 after winning the Australian Open back in January.

October 9, 2020 6:12 PM ET

The French Open title will be at stake when Iga Swiatek and Sofia Kenin face off at Roland Garros.
