With the French Open in the books, there has been a massive amount of movement within the WTA top 100. Today, we’ll look at the players who shot up the rankings and those who took a nosedive. Also, we’ll be looking at new faces into the top ten, top one-hundred, and some honorable mentions as well amongst the top movers. This is the first edition of Three Up, Three Down.
Three Up:
Alison van Uytvanck: The Belgian was the biggest mover moving up an astounding 47 spots this past week thanks to a quarterfinal run on the Parisian clay. She has moved up from 93 to 46 in the world, and at just 21 years old, has the potential to move up even further. The previous year, she lost in the first round in Paris to Tamira Paszek. Should she have strong showings on the grass, she could possibly sneak into a seed at Wimbledon.

Andreea Mitu: The Romanian who lost to Van Uytvanck in the fourth round of the French Open is the second highest mover moving up 32 spots from 100 to 68. With that jump, she is now safely into the main draws of all Grand Slams as being ranked around 100th hovers around being put in the main draw or having to play qualifiers. Last year, she lost to Tamira Paszek as well but in the qualifiers.

Francesca Schiavone: The 2010 French Open champion had a resurgence on the clay that brought her fond memories. After losing in the first round of the French Open last year to Alja Tomljanovic, she rebounded nicely this year getting to the third round this time around. She lost to Andreea Mitu after her second round marathon with Svetlana Kuznetsova clearly fatigued her. She moves up from 92 to 75.

Julia Goerges: Moved up 16 spots from 72 to 56
Annika Beck: Moved up 14 spots from 83 to 69
Irina Falconi: Moved up 14 spots from 85 to 71
Timea Bacsinszky: Moving up 9 spots to move into the top 15.
