Since 1993, the WWE Hall of Fame has inducted some of the biggest names and best workers. Names such as Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, Mr. Perfect, and Sting. Even though a multitude of iconic Superstars are missing (Brian Pillman and King Kong Bundy for example), probably the greatest talent to not only never win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but not be in the Hall of Fame is a man by the moniker "Ravishing".

"Ravishing" Rick Rude's Career

Starting his career in late 1982, Rick Rude would make a name for himself in 1985 when he joined Fritz Von Erich's WCCW in Dallas, Texas. Rude was managed by Percy Pringle (better known as Paul Bearer, which gives VAVEL even more reason to say yes, this is Rick Rude's year). He would then re-sign with former employers, Jim Crockett Promotions and team with Manny Fernandez to defeat the Rock N' Roll Express for the NWA World Tag Team Championships. Later Rude would join the World Wrestling Federation in 1987, en route to becoming arguably the greatest villain in the history of the sport.

Rick Rude was a character that the women loved and men were jealous of. Nobody looked the part more than Rude. Rude had what many women would consider the perfect body. Rude used this fact to become the most arrogant heel of all time. Rude debuted under the tutelage of Bobby Heenan. Heenan would be his manager up until he had a falling out with Vince McMahon immediately after loosing to the Ultimate Warrior at SummerSlam 1990. Rude subsequently left the WWF. Rude is probably most known for bringing women in after the match and kissing them until they would passed out. Rude would flex the hips, and insult the male fans with gems such as "you fat, overweight, New York City sweat hogs".

Rude hade quite possibly his best match at the 1988 Royal Rumble against Ricky Steamboat. Rude became known for airbrushing his tights to taunt his opponent, most famously, airbrushing the wife of rival-Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Cheryl Roberts on the crotch area of his tights. Rude wore the special tights during his match against The Junkyard Dog at SummerSlam 1988. Roberts came in and pulled his tights completely off, forcing Rude to run down the ramp in flee. Roberts would defeat Rude at the 1988 Survivor Series before Rude entered a feud with the Ultimate Warrior.

At the 1989 Rumble the then-Intercontinental Champion Warrior defeated him in a pose down. The two to faced off at WrestleMania V, where Rude would use Heenan to help win his first and only IC title. Rude held the IC title until SummerSlam. Rude would go on to lose it to the Ultimate Warrior, before entering a feud with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Rude later feuded with the Ultimate Warrior once again. Warrior had since become the World Champion. He'd face him in a steel cage at SummerSlam 1990, before leaving the company due to pay issues and heading to WCW.

Rude debuted in WCW in 1991. Rude would not only be the 1992 WCW Superstar of the Year and a main draw in the heel stable the Dangerous Alliance, he'd also hold the WCW United States Championship for an astounding 419 days and win three World Championships with the company. In 1997, however Rude jumped ship back over to the WWF, coming in as then-champion-Shawn Michaels' bodyguard. Later in the storyline he'd hop back over to WCW, joining the NWO, right after appearing on a segment on a taped Raw. The next night Rude would make an appearance on the third rival promotion ECW, which was totally unheard of! It'd be like All-Star third baseman Evan Longoria playing for the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox all in a two day span...which may in fact be Rude's downfall, prior to his death in 1999. Rude was 40.

Will Rude Get In?

Rude ultimately deserves this prestigious honor more than multiple people who are currently in the HoF, such as Pete Rose, and non-celebs such as Johnny Rodz. Rude did things unheard of, and paved the way for the narcissistic superstars of today such as Tyler Breeze and Dolph Ziggler.

Rude has the resume of a Hall of Famer, even with how short his WWF run was, looking back. A picture's worth a thousand words, and the picture Rick Rude painted spoke volumes. Rude had the look, the charisma, the character and the natural showmanship, which isn't even getting to his in ring ability or his ability to control the crowd at the palm of his hand. Rick Rude has virtually every piece of the puzzle, and it makes sense to VAVEL that this is Rude's year. Since Rude was a major rival in the career of Sting (the assumed Hall of Fame Headliner), as well as getting his start in Texas it just makes sense.

The only reason fathomable for Rude not going in is his loyalty. Rick Rude jumped ship to WCW, not once, but twice. Vince has been known for holding grudges, but since Triple H has more control, we've seen the inductions of Savage, Warrior, and Bruno Sammartino. It's now or never. This is Rick Rude's year....Rest in peace, "Ravishing" Rick Rude.
