The Royal Rumble match is the main event of the Royal Rumble obviously but there have been other matches that have captivated the crowd. Here are the top 10 matches in the Royal Rumble that weren't the Rumble match. Check these out as soon as possible!

10. John Cena - Edge (2006)

This was the beginning of a great rivalry in 2006 between John Cena and Edge. Edge cashed in his Money in the Bank at Armageddon after Cena defended his title in the Elimination Chamber. Edge hit the Spear and won the title. Now this was his first tile defense against John Cena. This led for a mutliple month feud that went through Summerslam and ended at Unforgiven. It was one of Cena's best rivalries if not the best.

9. Shawn Michaels - Undertaker (1998)

Before Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker had their great matches at Wrestlemania, they had a Casket match at the Royal Rumble. Both wrestlers were in their prime and the WWF was beginning to pick up. This wasn't the best match between the two but they both put on a show nonetheless.

8. Shawn Michaels - Edge (2005)

The 2005 Elimination Chamber at New Years Revolution was one to remember as it was one of the matches of the year. But Edge wasn't too happy on how he was eliminated as he was superkicked by guest referee Shawn Michaels and then eliminated by Chris Benoit. The Rated R superstar didn't take too well with the way he was eliminated and blame Michaels for costing him the Championship. He then speared Michaels the next night on Monday Night Raw and they were eventually booked for a match at the Royal Rumble.

7. Chris Jericho - The Rock (2002)

Chris Jericho was the first undisputed champion in the WWE and his rise from WCW to WWE was capped off by winning the undisputed championship against Triple H. But Jericho still had unfinished buisness against The Rock as the two were feuding since the Invasion storyline. Jericho - The Rock at the Rumble was a fight a year in the making.

6. Triple H - Randy Orton (2005)

We all knew Evolution was going to disband eventually given the way wrestling storylines work and given the nature of the wrestlers. The question was who was going to defect first. It turns out it was Randy Orton who was kicked out the year prior at Summerslam. The two continued to feud at Survivor Series and at New Years Revolution when Triple H won the World Heavyweight title in the Elimination Chamber. We all knew Triple H had to face one of his own soon enough.

5. John Cena - Umaga (2007)

Umaga was probably one of the toughtest opponents John Cena has faced. The former wrestler gave Cena mutliple beatings before the Rumble and a Last Man Standing match was a fitting match for the two solid wrestlers. It was another one of those "Super Cena" matches but it was different as Umaga was a tougher wrestler than the WWE champ had faced for a while.

4. Mick Foley - the Rock (1999)

It was the famous "I Quit" match between Mick Foley and the Rock. It was a thrilling match but not a good one for the Foley family, who were watching front row as they saw the Rock give shot after shot to Foley while he was handcuffed. But Foley battled back but a controversial ending surely feuled the fire between Foley and the Rock, who were former tag team partners. Oh how great the Attitude Era was.

3. Hardy Boyz - Dudley Boyz (2000)

The Hardys and the Dudleys are two of the best tag teams ever and they had a great Tables match for the Tag Team titles at MSG in what was a historic Royal Rumble in 2000. Both of those teams took part in the first two TLC matches and they showed their willingless to work creative angles and put their bodies on the line. With both teams not afraid to use weapons and creative moves, it was certainly a fun match to watch.

2. Cactus Jack - Triple H (2000)

It was an absolute brawl at Madison Square Garden between Triple H and Cactus Jack. It was orginally suppose to be Mankind facing off against Triple H but the storyline had Mankind switch faces to the more hardcore Cactus Jack. It was a good "Faces of Foley" switch and it create an absolute thrilling match. It was a Street fight and they used almost every weapon in the book. A lot of twists and turns in a match where both men needed help leaving the ring.

1. Shawn Michaels - Triple H (2004)

Although Michaels and Triple H were good as best friends with DX, they are almost better as rivals. They had a great Three Stages of Hell match at Armageddon in 2002 and they had another great match in 2004. Triple H was the World Heavyweight champion but Michaels kept wanting another shot at his friend and he got it at the Royal Rumble It was a Last Man Standing match for the World Heavyweight Championship and both wrestlers gave it all on the line. The match had a shocking ending to it but it was a great match between two great friends.
