The Brand Split created mix reactions from the WWE Universe with many pointing out its highly obvious flaws such as its inability to make the belts from the two separate shows seem prestigious.

However, this is the New Era in WWE and with an influx of new highly entertaining stars, it looks as if Vince McMahon and co. are attempting to recreate the controversial split.

SmackDown Lives on

Monday Night Raw has been the centre of attention for the WWE Universe for the past seven years now with the flagship show the place where the majority of exciting stuff happens.

SmackDown, on the other hand, has been ignored, unable to beed live so anything important that occurred on the blue brand failed to have the same effect as its company rival.

Over the past two months, however, its importance has grown with several important events taking place; possibly to try and raise its profile for the news that it is going live with a "distinct" roster.

Despite the influx of new stars, there exist reservations over the depth of the WWE roster, especially following the several performers they have released and on the back of an 'injury curse' that almost threatened to ruin WrestleMania 32.

However, those in charge backstage seem set to continue with their decision and have announced that SmackDown will be broadcast live, beginning July 19, 2016; allowing them some time at least to turn a few rookies into superstars.

Problems with brand split

Ideas at the start can be fantastic and exciting it may only be some time after you continue with the idea that it then becomes stale and not very well thought out.

WWE had this issue; the brand split worked well up until a point but running two shows meant a much higher workload for the backstage creative team, this, however, was not the only issue.

By running two shows as separate products, you have to establish superstars capable of carrying each product, right now the number of top guys is minimal, as there are: John CenaRoman ReignsSeth RollinsThe UnderTaker (Part-time), Brock Lesnar (Part-time) and AJ Styles to an extent.

Six men split into two shows? Is this going to work, crucially they have time to build stars that can create an entertaining product on double the amount of air time.

Possible stars that could fill in at top spot include Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose, Chris Jericho, Cesaro and Randy Orton but still separating these current top mid-card athletes into two separate programs will be tricky as the roster is currently so thin.

Other issues that would need to addressed include, the Women's Division, with just one title between all of the females in the company how could be compete between two shows and keep a "distinct" roster? The Tag Team Titles are also involved in this conundrum.

The work and idea is currently at a foundation level but with so many questions hanging over the plans already, you have to wonder if a brand split really is the best thing for World Wrestling Entertainment.
