Now is a great a time as ever to be a wrestling fan and much of that praise is reserved for The Cruiserweight Classic.

The latest episode may have provided the crowd with a contender for match of the year as Cedric Alexander versus Kota Ibushi captivated the Full Sail University crowd.

The tournament will continue but the road was halted for the former Ring of Honor man but following a 'sign of approval' from Triple H coupled with chants of "Please Sign Cedric" from the wrestling community; have we seen the last of the 26-year-old in WWE?

Speaking with WWE after his standout performance against Kota Ibushi, Alexander was understandably full of "emotion" as the young star could barely put into words what his reception meant to him.

He said, "[There are] so many emotions, my voice is cracking, I am all over the place right now."

While he managed to shake off the adrenaline that was coursing through his veins he mentioned a fitting story that one of his trainers mentioned to him.

He said, "My trainer once told me sometimes when you lose, you really win and tonight even though I lost, I really won."

Wrestling provides the performers with very few moments that will remain with them throughout their career and Alexander believes he has just experienced one of them.

He said, "There are moments in my career that I can never duplicate, the acceptance from the NXT universe [at full sail] was something that I really did not expect."

On achieving the respect from the crowd who continued to chant his name throughout the match as well as after the final bell he said "I thought I would have to fight a lot more to earn...I am just full of emotion and proud to have participated in the tournament."

With his Cruiserweight Classic story over for this chapter, Alexander believes that this will not be the last time the WWE Universe will see his face as he said, "Unfortunately I am out, but you have not seen the last of me, I promise that."

With his final comment, he teased something big for the future, and following contracts that were presented to Gran Metalik and Kota Ibushi could the 26-year-old be following them to NXT?

He finished with "Hopefully, there will be bigger and better things in the future very soon, hopefully."

Cedric Alexander to WWE?

Following his earning of the crowd's respect and the friendly arm placed around his shoulder by wrestling icon Triple H, it seems almost certain that Alexander will be signed by WWE.

With Monday Night Raw set to feature their own exclusive Cruiserweight division, placing a crowd favorite such as the Queen City's Favorite Son is a hell of a way to announce it.

Following his widespread coverage on WWE's Twitter, YouTube and other social media accounts, building the wrestling community's hopes up and then not handing him a contract is unlikely.
