The WWE made the tough decision to turn their back on Hulk Hogan earlier this year when the veteran became pinned down by a number of PR disasters.

Hulkamania's history was removed from its websites and any mention of the veteran was swiftly altered in order to crack down on any bad publicity that the company may have become embroiled in.

Hogan to return?

While it may have been tough for many to see such a beloved figure shunned by WWE, it was, considering his actions, for the best.

Hogan has never been one to escape the headlines but when his leaked sex tape became front page news, the company's hand was forced.

WWE has been a full PG product since about 2004 and with nudity being a complete taboo, the video also included racial comments making the news that much more shocking.

The company began to swiftly remove much of the footage on the Network containing Hogan but have since begun to republish a lot of the video, as time goes on.

With the sex-tape scandal now being rectified with the trial ruling in favor of the 63-year-old, WWE seems to be keen to rekindle their love affair with the veteran.

Hogan received well over $100 million from Gawker earlier this year but despite him no longer worrying about money issues it is his wrestling legacy that has taken a severe dent.

When will he return?

Given that WWE are currently in the early stages of the brand split and are really pushing the New Era, the likelihood of Hogan returning soon is not very.

With both SmackDown Live and Monday Night Raw using the limited characters they have to the best of their ability, relying on veteran talent would be a backward step.

The build-up to next year's WrestleMania is the expected time for Hogan to return as they wait for the dust to settle following the Gawker/racial comments incident.

With 'Mania still relying on brief wrestlers, the personality of Hulkamania extends far beyond professional wrestling with his face known worldwide.

He will likely be used as a draw for The Grandest Stage of Them All and may be in the corner of a performer, but with Hogan's knack for getting back in the squared circle, which is currently unlikely, you can never rule it out.
