Speaking after his side's 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Craven Cottage, new Fulham manager, Rene Meulensteen told the media:

"Well, we're bitterly disappointed of course, playing so well, working so hard and coming away with nothing is hard to take. I can't ask any more of the players, they were magnificent. Yes, we've lost the game and the three points, but we've won in many other fields tonight. The discipline and shape was fantastic."

When asked about whether or not Fulham can stave of the drop he told reporters:

"Absolutely. I refuse to be negative, and I thrive on that. We are, at the moment, where we have to swallow these bitter pills. We have to take heart from these performances, and we'll turn it around."

When AVB was asked if the win had improved his side’s chances of reaching the top 4 he told the press:

"It's always difficult against a team with a change of manager, but we have to build on this win. We need to put our challenge back on track for the Champions League places.”

The only negative for Spurs on the night was a late injury to Jan Vertonghen, but the Spurs manager seemed hopeful that the injury was not as serious as it first seemed:

"It's his right ankle. We have to assess it but it looks quite swollen. Hopefully it's not serious."
