Tottenham Hotspur have announced that an agreement has been reached with Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas for the mutual termination of his services.

The club have described the decision as 'mutual consent' and in the 'interests of all parties'. Ex-Chelsea boss Villas-Boas had been with the North London side for 17 months, following his appointment last year. In his first season, he lead his side to a club record 72 Premier League points, but fell short of a UEFA Champions League place.

The sacking comes on the back of a 5-0 home defeat at the hands of Liverpool, as Spurs languish in 7th place in the Premier League, 8 points adrift of the top.

Spurs have stated on the official club website:

"We wish Andre [Villas-Boas] well in the future."

"We shall make a further announcement in due course."
