Liverpool have 12 players travelling to Brazil with their respective nations and there could be more, with the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva being left out of the Brazil squad, and Jon Flanagan is on standby for England in case they need him. Here's a run down of the players travelling to Rio to compete in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Steven Gerrard (England)

The Liverpool captain is also the captain of the England squad so is likely to feature in every game for the 3 Lions. Having been capped 110 times, only 5 behind David Beckham, England will be relying on Gerrard to create a miracle against the likes of Uruguay and Italy, perhaps a strike much like his one against Olympiacos in the Champions League back in 2004. Leading out the 3 Lions at a World Cup is a dream for every boy when he's growing up, but this dream is about to be a reality for Steven Gerrard and everyone is hoping that armband is going to help him lead England to glory.

Daniel Sturridge (England)

One of Liverpool's most prolific goalscorers last season, scoring only less than Luis Suarez. And now England are calling, on the biggest footballing stage of them all. Other than Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, England have struggled to find a prolific goalscorer in recent times and the nation is hoping Daniel Sturridge is the next clinical finisher for country as he has been for his club since he joined 18 months ago. But will this be his year to stun the world and take England all the way?

Jordan Henderson (England)

Jordan Henderson was yet another stand out midfielder for Liverpool in the last 12 months and many agree that he has earnt his place in this England side. With his impressive work rate, he could be a problem for England's opponents this year in Brazil. He won't stop running for the 90 minutes and could be lethal off the bench as oppositions are starting to tire. However, he may get his chance in the starting XI, but he'll really have to fight for it as Jack Wilshere of Arsenal has been preferred alongside Gerrard for a while now.

Glen Johnson (England)

Glen Johnson has been England's number 1 right back for longer than anyone can remember and he's likely to regain that place this summer in Brazil. But with many calling for him to be left out the squad due to his poor form this season for Liverpool and more recently England in the warm up matches, he may lose that place if Roy Hodgson can find a suitable replacement for him who will perform better than the 29-year-old.

Rickie Lambert (England)

Liverpool have already been active in this transfer window, with their first purchase being that of Southampton's Rickie Lambert for a bargain £4m. The 32-year-old will be taking part in his first major international tournament, having only received his debut last summer. He's most likely to feature off the bench for the 3 Lions, but could make a start due to the tough conditions and little space between each match. Again, much like Sturridge, the nation are hoping Lambert can step up and become a prolific finisher in front of goal for England.

Raheem Sterling (England)

Raheem Sterling was Liverpool's teen prodigy during the 2013-14 season, and many are wishing for him to replicate this form if he is given the change for England this summer. With goals and assists, blistering pace and a calm mindset, Sterling could be what England need running down the wing, along with his creative nature. However, it is unlikely that he will be starting, and perhaps even playing during the World Cup.

Luis Suarez (Uruguay)

Suarez was undoubtedly Liverpool's best player during the 2013-14 season. Racking up a total of 31 goals, he helped them to the top of the league table, only to falter shortly before the end and look them finish second, close behind Manchester City. But the Uruguayan will have to perform at his best to help Uruguay get through the group stage, let alone the knockout stage. He'll have to face 6 team mates when Uruguay meet England on the 19th June, but that won't be his only challenge, with Italy just 5 days later. Both will be stubborn opponents to beat, but Suarez and fellow countryman Edinson Cavani will be causing both defences trouble, as will veteran Diego Forlan.

Sebastian Coates (Uruguay)

Coates has struggled to make an impact at Liverpool, but is easily making it for Uruguay, with 14 caps in 3 years. Having made it into the squad despite playing little to no football this past season, Coates could use the World Cup to prove himselfto doubters across the world and he could make a huge impact on Uruguay's World Cup campaign. Whether he will feature is yet to be known, as the Uruguayan defence is far from being strong, so experimentation and switching it around could be their defensive miracle this summer.

Mamadou Sakho (France)

Sakho is a key figure in the French defence recently, starring alongside Real Madrid's Raphael Varane at the centre of defence. Having been a relatively strong for Liverpool in defence, despite a few mistakes, Sakho is hoping to make an impression to the rest of the world, showing that he can be one of the best defenders in World Cup history. However, Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny will be trying to knock Sakho or Varane out of the starting XI onto the bench, so the Liverpool defender will have to do extremely well at the back to keep his place.

Kolo Toure (Ivory Coast)

Kolo Toure has been included in the Ivory Coast World Cup squad despite being recently diagnosed with malaria. This could affect his game time in Brazil, but he'll be eager to play as much as possible and represent his nation. No one expects Ivory Coast to make it too far through the tournament but Toure will do all he can to push them through to the knockout stages and make a statement to the world.

Simon Mignolet (Belgium)

Liverpool's number one goalkeeper will most likely not be number one for Belgium this summer, with Thibaut Courtois being preferred between the sticks. However, if Courtois begins to faulter at any point, Mignolet will be called in to replace the Chelsea goalkeeper who has been on loan at Atletico Madrid for the last few seasons. With not the best league record this season, despite playing all 38 games, Mignolet will not be challenging Courtois' position for their first game of the tournament, but the 26 year old may get his chance if and when Belgium progress.

Jose Reina (Spain)

Reina has been away on loan at Napoli for the last season, being back under the management of former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez. The Spaniard impressed in Serie A, helping Napoli secure Champions League qualification. But, despite being called up to the World Cup squad for Spain, it is unlikely that he'll break into the starting XI over the likes of Iker Casillas and the much younger David De Gea. But Reina will not want to squander the opportunity and will be trying his hardest to make the squad for at least one game.

Brad Jones (Australia)

Despite rarely getting game time for the Reds, Jones is number one choice for the Socceroo's and will be looking to impress during the World Cup, but it won't be easy. With Spain, Chile and the Netherlands in Australia's group, no one expects them to advance. But perhaps Jones can help the Aussie's surprise a few and gain a point or 3 to show the world the underdogs should never be ruled out. However, even if they lose all 3 group games, Jones is sure to enjoy the game time and the opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world.

So there you have it, a quick guide to Liverpool's players at the World Cup. Will they impress or will they flop under the pressure?
