West Ham United put in a very successful performance last weekend at Crystal Palace and another win will firmly be the target for Sam Allardyce and his team against Southampton tomorrow afternoon. Many of the Upton Park faithful lost patience with Allardyce last season as results did not come as frequently as many hoped combined with a style of play that is becoming increasingly tedious to witness for many. Last weekend's victory against Crystal Palace saw refreshing, more attacking play from the Hammers and they were unfortunate to lose in their first league home game against Tottenham two weeks earlier. However crashing out of the League Cup to League One Sheffield United on Tuesday night certainly wouldn't have impressed fans and they are likely to be given a tough workout by Southampton, searching for their first league victory.

Team News:

West Ham could potentially be missing six first team players for tomorrow's game as injuries have a very early affect on Big Sam's squad. Midweek goal scorer Diafra Sakho may be missing due to a back complaint and Matt Jarvis, Carl Jenkinson and James Collins have all joined long-term injury absentees Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan on the sidelines for this game.

Southampton meanwhile of no such problems and have the luxury of a near fully fit squad to make the journey to East London. The only player likely to not feature is midfielder Lloyd Isgrove, who lasted just 30 minutes against Millwall on Tuesday.

Match Facts:

West Ham are unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches against Southampton (W2,D3).

The Hammers have conceded just eight goals in their last nine league fixtures at Upton Park.

Carlton Cole has scored four goals in five Premier League games against Southampton.

Southampton striker  Shane Long has scored only two goals in his last 14 Premier League appearances

Prediction: A believe that Saturday's game will be tight, and toughly contested as both sides will look to target that game as their chance to get early points on the board. Mauro Zarate was superb against Palace last week and the Hammers' attacking threat will certainly be influenced by how well he plays tomorrow. However key injuries for West Ham, particularly in defence may mean that Southampton could leave Upton Park with a first Premier League win of the season in the bag.
