Two early goals in the space of just 91 seconds saw Crystal Palace and Stoke take a share of the spoils in south London.

James McArthur gave Palace the lead after 11 minutes, but their joy was short lived, with Peter Crouch finding an equaliser less than two minutes later.

Stoke City went into the game full on confidence after their excellent 3-2 win over Arsenal last time out, but soon found themselves a goal behind.

Yannick Bolasie, who tormented Potters full back Phil Bardsley all afternoon, sauntered down the left wing, floated in a pin point cross, which was flicked in by McArtur, who did well to dart in in front of the dawdling Marc Wilson to head home into the far corner.

The goal woke up an unusually subdued Selhurst Park, but the Palace faithful were silenced just 91 seconds later.

Stoke's creator Bojan cut the ball back to an umarked Jonathon Walters, whose blocked effort bounced kindly into the patch of a grateful Peter Crouch. The striker was perfectly placed at the back post for a tap-in.

On half an hour, Bolasie caused the Stoke defense more problems, playing a clever ball for McArthur, but this time the midfielder saw his near-post effort saved by Asmir Begovic.

On the opposite flank, Wilfried Zaha was less busy but could have won a penalty after his cross struck Erik Pieters’ hand. Referee Kevin Friend only awarded a corner.

In the second period, McArthur came close early on when he forced Begovic to a low save.

Stoke were reluctant to expose themselves to the threat of a counter attack and rarely moved forward in numbers. A few set pieces directed towards Peter Crouch offered some hope of a goal, but Palace keeper Julian Speroni was rarely troubled.

Stoke's tactics killed the flow of the game, and much of the second half was reduced to scrappy periods of play, with neither side being able to  muster up a serious chance.

Mark Hughes' men proved why they are a hard team to beat. Their stubborn defending prevented Palace from snatching a needed win. The draw leaves them just a point away from the relegation zone.
