Equatorial Guinea international football team have been fined for disruption caused by their supporters during Thursday's semi-final clash with African Cup Of Nations finalists Ghana.

The Central Africans nicknamed 'National Thunder', perhaps due to their rowdy fans, have been fined $100,000 US dollars  (£65,000) for disruptions caused by their supporters in the semi-final match on Thursday 5th February with Ghana.

Their fans have been allowed to attend the 3rd place play off against DR Congo on Saturday 7th. However, should a reccurance of the incident take place then Equatorial Guinea must play the following match behind close doors.

The guilty party must also pay for the treatment of 36 fans who were injured in the violence.

The match at Malambo Stadium was stopped after 82 minutes as Ghanain fans built up behind one of the goals to escape the missiles being thrown at them by Guinean supporters.

Local authorities had to move in the break up the conflict using batons and tear gas.

Eventually the match was resumed after a delay of over 30 minutes. Ghana went on to win the tie 3-0 courtesy of goals from Jordan Ayew 42' (pen), Wakaso 45', then brother of Jordan Ayew, Andre Ayew 75'.
