After a string of impressive performances from Brendan Rodgers men, including an unbeaten run of 11 games in the Barclays Premier League, support for the Reds is at a season high. And after a strong, winning performance against Manchester City on Sunday at Anfield, Adam Lallana has thanked the Liverpool supporters for 'that bit extra' they gave on Sunday.

With the fans roaring at full time, the Reds headed down the tunnel and shortly after, Adam Lallana begun a post-match interview.

"I see Philippe doing it day in, day out. I'm not too sure about Hendo" Lallana stated, referring to Liverpool's two goalscorers on the afternoon.

Lallana then continued, grinning ear to ear, "But he works on his shooting a lot, we all do, and it has paid off. What fantastic strikes both of them were, both worthy of winning any Premier League game."

However, Lallana then steered the interview towards the Liverpool loyal and their unbelievable support for the players on and off the pitch. It had been an afternoon where not much was expected of Liverpool, due to their lack of rest since Thursday's devestating Europa League exit and the extensive travel time they had to suffer. But the fans rallied and motivated the squad to push on through the Sky Blues defence and win a vital game in Liverpool's quest for Champions League football.

The former Southampton midfielder said "The fans were great today, they got behind us and I think they knew that we needed that little bit extra from them today. It helps, it keeps you driving on and we thoroughly deserved the win. The reaction from the fans and the players on the back of that win meant a lot to us. It's a little statement out there to the Premier League that we're playing well and we've got the momentum."

With Liverpool's attacking threat throughout the game paying off, although Liverpool were unlucky not to have scored more. Within the opening 10 minutes, Lallana himself had been denied in a one-on-one sitaution by England and City's number 1 Joe Hart, before having a volley ruled out due to an offside call.

"That's how we like playing, how we feel we are at our best - on the front foot, harassing teams and starving them of time on the ball," the Bournemouth born attacking midfielder said, "I thought we did that well, we had chances and we were disappointed to concede and not go in [at half-time] leading."

However, despite being level at half-time, Liverpool regained the lead 15 minutes from time with yet another unstoppable Philippe Coutinho strike, the second he has scored a late winner for Liverpool against Manchester City at Anfield, with the other coming last season with a curling strike from Vincent Kompany's scuffed clearance last season.

The victory over City has lifted Liverpool above Southampton in the table after the Saints lost 1-0 to West Brom on Saturday thanks to an early strike from Liverpool target, Saido Berahino. The Reds now sit in fifth in the league, and will be hoping to continue their unbeaten streak when Burnley visit Anfield on Wednesday night.

"We have picked up momentum since the turn of the year and we're just not looking back. We're looking at the next game, Burnley, already. It's not going to be easy - they are fighting for their lives down at the bottom and Sean Dyche has done a great job. They gave us a tough game at Turf Moor earlier in the season. Our only focus is on that game now and picking up three points." concluded the interview with Adam Lallana.

The Reds are favourites to beat Burnley, with Dyche's side still struggling in 18th in the league table. However, Liverpool's form has been hot and cold this season, and although they are becomign more consistent, theere's still the risk of slipping up.
