Arsenal forward Theo Walcott is to discuss where and how often he will be used before putting pen to paper on a new contract at the club, according to reports.

Walcott, who has one year left on his current contract worth £90,000-a-week is ready to sit down to talk about a new long-term deal with the Gunners.

The 26-year-old is keen to have more game time and also keen to find the balance between playing out wide and up front. The Englishman hasn’t demanded that he plays every match as the main striker but wants assurances over role.

He helped his case with an excellent hat-trick against West Brom on the final day of the season and scoring a stunning opener in the 4-0 demolition of Aston Villa to help retain the FA Cup.

The position that Walcott had in the side was an issue the last time that player and club negotiated a new deal when he rejected a five-year deal back in 2012 before signing his current contract in January 2013.
