Gervinho, was meant to move to Abu Dhabi club Al Jazira for a reported €13million (£9.25m). Gervinho was at Italian club Roma but had decided to move away from the Serie A side. The fee was agreed by the two clubs but the deal collapsed after Gervinho’s personal demands and terms were revealed.

The former Arsenal frontman was said to have demanded a private helicopter for his own disposal. The Ivorian also wanted a private beach and accommodation for his family. Gervinho also wanted regular plane tickets to enable him to travel back to the Ivory Coast.

However the player has since come out and denied these reports on his twitter page. "I deny all of those reports relating to my transfer." The deal to the Abu Dhabi club has since collapsed and the player still has 3 years remaining on his Roma contract. Gervinho is now due to attend Roma's first training camp of the summer at their Trigoria base just outside Rome on July 5.

Time at Arsenal

Fireworks and controversy seem to follow Gervinho everywhere during his career. When he left North London for the Italian capital the striker slammed Arsene Wenger. “He [Wenger] never had any faith in me,” Gervinho is reported as saying in Gazzetta dello Sport. The striker then contradicted himself in an earlier interview arguing "I have always dreamed of playing for Arsenal, and I had a good time there.” Gervinho played at Arsenal for 2 years scoring only 9 goals in 46 appearances. His career at the club is also remembered for a number of shocking misses.

His time at Roma is proving more successful, under the guidance of Rudi García. Gervinho notched nine goals and 10 assists in his first season at the club showing the form and trickery which first enticed Arsenal into signing him in the first place, but has gone off the boil again in his second season.
