Bradford City have signed Jonathan Lewis, the club have confirmed.

The 18-year-old forward joins the Bantams on a two-year deal and will initially train with the club's youth and reserve teams ahead of the 2015-16 season.

Bradford need wide players

City will certainly hope that Lewis hits the ground running and excels with these sides as they are in need of a winger following the release of Mark Yeates earlier this summer.

The club signed Josh Morris last month, taking their total of wide men up to two with Filipe Morais still on their books despite an incredible amount of interest from Championship clubs in January, however, to ensure that neither become too heavily relied on, the Bantams will want extra depth on the flanks.

The addition of Lewis can potentially help them achieve this, as can the expected increase of first team inclusion for second year pro Dylan Mottley-Henry in the coming season.

Lewis joins City from Ft Lauderdale in Florida after being pointed out to Mark Ellis, a former Bantam, who was quick to recommend the American to Bradford.

The teenager has spent time with Fulham, Middlesbrough and York City in his career thus far, albeit with their youth squads, not their first teams. Lewis played at under-21 level with the former, whilst Boro and York both boasted his talents in their under-19 squads.

Bantams busy summer continues

The forward is City's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrival of Morris and the signings of versatile Tony McMahon and striker Steve Davies.

As well as confirming the transfer of Lewis today, City manager Phil Parkinson, via Simon Parker of the Telegraph and Argus, also admitted that he has at least two players in mind to strengthen the team at the other side of the pitch - in between the sticks.

Ben Williams is the club's only goalkeeper at the moment after Matt Urwin was released this summer, and today Parkinson confirmed that Huddersfield Town's Joe Murphy is "on his list," whilst former-Leeds United man Alex Cairns is currently training with the Bantams ahead of their pre-season campaign.

These movements from the club suggest that a fifth signing of the summer is not far away.
