In the last few days it has become abundantly clear that Arsenal are working towards signing a "world class" striker, it is believed that they have already had a substantial bid rejected by Real Madrid for Karim Benzema

Today saw much respected Spanish journalist Kike Marin tweet that Arsenal have a "secret back-up option" in the shape of Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski, this would signal exciting times to be an Arsenal fan if this is true.

Arsene Wenger may face competition from Manchester United for the Pole's signature if he is to leave the Allianz Arena this summer, the former Borussia Dortmund hitman has only spent one year at Bayern since ditching Jurgen Klopp's men for their rivals, so his departure would be a surprise to say the least.

Are Arsenal ready to add another £40 Million player to their squad?

With the Gunners being linked with two players of the calibre of Benzema and Lewandowski it is clear to see that the club mean business in this transfer window, with both players valued in the region of £45 million

The 26-year-old Poland international had an impressive debut season for the Bundesliga champions in 2014/15, and notched 25 goals in 49 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side.

Arsenal are possibly two players shy of having a squad good enough to seriously challenge Chelsea and Manchester City for this season's premier league crown.

One more striker can only benefit the squad

Current Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud would welcome an additional striker at the Emirates, "If there is a new striker, it will be nice for all the team, because competition is good for everyone." The French centre forward was speaking following the impressive 3-1 win over Everton which clinched the Barclays Asia trophy last Saturday.

Arsenal have shaken up the squad this season with the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea but have offloaded more than they have acquired, they will need to re-establish that balance if they are to put a successful premier league campaign together in 2015/16.
