League Two saw a number of goals and incidents in a fixture list which saw more away victories than home, a number of clubs maintaining a 100% start and an eight goal thriller.

Wycombe Wanderers came out on top in their away fixture at Barnet, with Garry Thompson firing in his first goals for the club at The Hive. Both goals came in a second half after a committed display from both sides. Thompson opened the scoring from outside the area, finding the top corner of Graham Stack's goal. Thompson finished proceedings by converting a penalty after Andy Yiadom had upended the Chairboys wide man.

A Perfect Start

Leyton Orient put Dagenham and Redbridge to the sword in an east end Derby. Paul McCallum opened the scoring with a header which was followed by Lloyd James converting from the spot. The ever impressive Dean Cox then converted a wonderful free kick on 56 minutes before veteran Daggers striker Jamie Cureton grabbed a consolation late on. Portsmouth have also made a perfect start, and after dispatching Championship side Derby County in midweek, they took advantage of two penalties against Plymouth Argyle. Matt Tubbs scored the first to give Pompey a first half lead with winger Gary Roberts scoring late on after being fouled to convert the vistors' second penalty. A late reply from Gregg Wylde was in vain.

Northampton Town bagged three goals against Exeter City, but The Grecians will feel hard done by in a fairly even contest. Jason Taylor's fine 25 yard volley opened the scoring before Ryan Cresswell doubled the Cobblers lead with a header. Exeter missed a couple of opportunities through Tony Brown before Marc Richards slotted home the third with a minute left. It was Northampton's third clean sheet in as many games. Another team in fine form, Hartlepool United, came from behind to beat York City at Bootham Crescent. Reece Thompson put York ahead, captalising on hesitant defending. However journeyman Billy Paynter's sumptuous curling shot found the top corner before Pool got lucky. Michael Woods' shot was miss-hit, but deflected in off James Berrett.

Eight Goal Thriller

The game of the day was at Brunton Park however, with Carlisle United and Cambridge United taking a point a piece after sharing eight goals. Cambridge raced into a two goal lead through goals from Barry Corr and George Taft before Jabo Ibehre levelled matters up with two goals in two minutes just before half time. Corr added his second before Charlie Wyke turned sharply and made it 3-3. Luke Berry must have thought he'd won it for The U's after adding their fourth, but the impressive Ibehre grabbed the equaliser and his hat-trick to end the game 4-4.

In a fiercely contested west country Derby, Bristol Rovers beat 10 man Yeovil Town at Huish Park. Ellis Harrison was the hero of the day scoring with only two minutes left to secure the points after Matty Dolan had been dismissed for a second bookable offence for Yeovil. Wimbledon also won away at neighbours Crawley Town with goals from Ade Akinfenwa and Andy Barcham, notching Wimbledon's first win of the season after Crawley's Gwion Edwards had headed Crawley in front.

Luton Town continued the trend of surrendering leads, this time going two goals up before being pegged back by Oxford United. Luke Wilkinson and Cameron McGeehan put the Hatters two up before Kemar Roofe and an injury time equaliser from Patrick HobanNewport Town and Stevenage Borough also shared a 2-2 draw, Teddy Sheringham's first point as a manager. Boro scored first through Dip Akinyemi finished off a slick counter attack. Aaron Collins headed Newport level before Scott Boden kept his cool to give the hosts the lead with 11 minutes remaining. However, defender Mark Hughes scored to level up proceedings.

Aaron Wildig settled matters in the Lancashire Derby, scoring after 13 minutes to ensure that Morecambe had the bragging rights over Accrington Stanley.
