Everton have completed the signing of Aaron Lennon from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.

Lennon has signed a three-year contract and will return to Goodison Park after spending the second-half of last season on loan at Everton.

A return to Goodison Park

Everton have been linked with the winger all summer following a successful loan spell at Goodison Park last season.

He made 14 appearances for the Blues, scoring two goals.

Lennon has made no secret of his desire to return to Everton on a permanent basis after falling out of favour at Tottenham under Maurico Pochettino and was not allocated a squad number this season.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy had been demanding a fee as high as £9 million earlier in the summer, but Lennon has signed for around half that price.

Not the number 10 that many Everton supporters wanted but still a good addition

Although Lennon is not the playmaker that Roberto Martinez and many Everton supporters hoped would be arriving at Goodison Park this summer, he is a player that will be a good addition to the Everton squad.

Lennon is an old-fashioned winger who focuses on beating his man and getting crosses into the box and the 28-year-old gave Martinez's side an added dimension last season.

He added width to the side and his pace and directness when attacking added something different to the Toffees and he is particularly a threat on the counter-attack.

He is not only a player that can create goals having recorded 77 assists in 364 appearances for Tottenham but he is also capable of finding the back of the net himself. Lennon scored 30 goals for Spurs since joining from Leeds United in 2005 and also scored two goals whilst on loan at Everton last season.

Martinez "delighted" with signing

Everton manager Roberto Martinez said that he is "delighted" at Lennon's return to Goodison Park.

Martinez added that he will "immediately add" to the squad and to the "ambition of the club." He said that he is "well-respected" in the dressing room and added that his Premier League experience is "immense".

He said that Lennon had a "major role" in the second half of last season and added that he was "looking forward" to the 28-year-old "continuing to enjoy his football as well as being the productive player we know he can be."

Everton's seventh summer signing

Lennon becomes Everton's seventh and last signing of the summer transfer window.

River Plate defender Ramiro Funes Mori also moved to Goodison Park on transfer deadline day for £9.5 million and became Everton's most expensive defender in their history.

He joined fellow South American Leandro Rodriguez who signed for the Blues from River Plate Montevideo last Friday.

Midfielder Tom Cleverley moved to Goodison Park on a free transfer from Manchester United and Gerard Deulofeu also returned to Everton from Barcelona, after a loan spell at the club during the 2013/14 season.

Everton have also signed two players for the future this after signing 19-year-old striker David Henen from Olympiacos and 18-year-old defender Mason Holgate from Barnsley this summer.
