Speaking in his Press Conference ahead of the game against Stoke City, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger gave the gathered media updates on Jack Wilshere, Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck.
Wenger has no new injury concerns ahead of the visit of the Potters to North London as the Arsenal contingent away on international duty returned in good shape.
Unfortunately Danny Welbeck suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury and he is set to miss out. The forward could not handle the final step in his rehabilitation and was close to a return to the first team but after consulting with specialists he suffered a recurrence in the injury and looks set to be out until Christmas after having surgery on the injury.
Arsene Wenger fully expected Jack Wilshere to be back in the Arsenal squad for the upcoming game after the midfielder was injured in the run up to the Community Shield, but now it has been revealed that the 23 year old will need a bit more time in his recovery from an ankle injury, and looks likely to miss the Stoke game tomorrow tea time.
Mertesacker has been out for 18 days with an illness and missed the games with Liverpool and Newcastle United, but looks set to return for the Stoke match. Wenger was hopeful about the German's return despite the towering defender not taking antibiotics "On Wednesday he was not good, we had to send him home. He has a chest infection. The Germans are a bit sceptical of that (antibiotics). I hope that he comes in and says, 'I am perfectly all right,".
While Koscielny missed one of France’s recent internationals with a back problem he is expected to start after playing against Newcastle.
