A miss from Tjaronn Chery will make the headlines as Hull and QPR played out a 1-1 stalemate.

Despite Hull's first half dominance QPR took the lead through Charlie Austin's header which needed intervention from the linesman to determine whether it went over the line or not.

The Tigers were level a few moments after when Michael Dawson headed Tom Huddlestone's free kick into the goal. On the hour mark Chery had the goal at his mercy and missed from a yard out, when he definitely should have scored.

The opening proceedings were all Hull as Sone Aluko decided to shoot from 20 yards within the first minute, but Rangers 'keeper Rob Green had it well under control.

Aluko and Andy Robertson were the most lively in the opening minutes, with the latter floating a cross into the box which Aluko got to but the striker failed to get good contact on it from the back post.

It took QPR 13 minutes to get a strike on goal as Massimo Luongo pressured 'keeper Allan McGregor into punching the ball clear, it was all a sign of things to come for QPR. Against the run of play the visitors took the lead midway through the first half.

R's Take Lead Against Run Of Play

Austin, who famously failed a medical at Hull in 2013, returns to haunt them yet again as his header from a corner squeezed past the Hull defence and despite hitting the underside of the bar, the assistant referee adjudged the ball to have crossed the line.

The opener was a shock as the Tigers had been dominating up until that point.

Hull Make Swift Reply

Hull continued to dominate following Austin's goal and were all square shortly before half time. The home side were awarded a free kick which Huddlestone crossed in, Tigers skipper Dawson was on hand to head it past Green and draw the hosts level.

They nearly took the lead a couple of minutes later when Alex Bruce leapt up to meet Sam Clucas' corner, but couldn't get his effort on target. QPR had a chance in first half stoppage time as Gabriele Angella headed straight at McGregor.

Clucas and Robertson continued to look threatening as the second half started, with the former sending in a great looking cross albeit no Hull man could connect with it. Huddlestone then tried to play in Abel Hernandez but Green comes off his line and shuts down the attack.

Miss Of The Season Contender

Just past the hour mark QPR should have taken the lead. Tjaronn Chery somehow managed to miss from just a yard out with the goal gaping, a shocking miss from what is a prolific player.

Neither side was finding the upper hand and in turn, the winner. Robertson was firing on all cylinders as he had two efforts in as many minutes. His first effort was deflected before his second he dragged wide.

The game ended in a draw, with Hull not able to capitalise on their dominance and take all three points. QPR however will be happy with the result but on another day it could have been so much more had Chery managed to put his effort away.
