14:00 - Hi everyone and welcome to VAVEL's coverage of Manchester City - Newcastle United

Very much like last week, the head-to-head record stands once again in the favour of City as they currently remain unbeaten in the last 17 matches with Newcastle with the Magpies failing to score in the last five matches.

At the Etihad last season, Newcastle were taught a footballing lesson with City romping to a convincing 5-0 victory thanks to goals from Aguero, Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko and a brace from Silva.

Key City players could be on the side-lines for this clash with question marks over the fitness of David Silva and Yaya Toure who were brought off in the midweek victory in Germany. Pellegrini confirmed that the Ivorian will miss out and it is likely that Silva will face a late assessment.

Eliaquim Mangala is expected to partner Nicolas Otamendi as skipper Vincent Kompany remains absent, penalty hero Joe Hart is expected to come back in after Willy Caballero let in four last Saturday.

McClaren could go with a similar side that Jose Mourinho’s side so many problems last weekend with Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic leading the attacking line at the Etihad.

Kevin Mbabu could be preferred to Massadio Haidara at the full-back position after keeping Pedro quiet last week, Vurnon Anita is expected to keep his place in the centre of the midfield.

It couldn’t be a worse start to Steve McClaren’s reign at St James’ Park with seven games without a win and hang just one point above their bitter North-East rival Sunderland who dwindle at the bottom of the pile.

Things looked optimistic when they pulled off a 2-2 draw with the high-flying Southampton on the opening day of the season, but it has been downhill from there with defeats to Swansea, Arsenal, West Ham and Watford and the only game that they kept a clean sheet was there goalless draw with Manchester United.

Things looking to be going in the right direction last weekend when goals from Ayoze Perez and Georginio Wijnaldum gave the Magpies a 2-0 lead over the current Premier League champions, however it was the same old story with two goals from Ramires and Willian inside seven minutes which sees a search for their first three points continue.

After such excellent start to the campaign for Manuel Pellegrini’s side it has begun to stall, they managed five victories on the bounce scoring eight goals in that process. However they hit a big bump with consecutive defeats to Juventus and West Ham who had already collected the scalps of Arsenal and Liverpool.

It got even worse the last weekend when they suffered an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at White Hart Lane but have prepared well for this match in midweek with a narrow victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.

Manchester City - Newcastle United live game looked to be heading the same way as the defeat to the Italian champions when Lars Stindl struck home but a goal from Martin Demichelis and a late penalty from Sergio Aguero gave them a big three points.

Manchester City will be looking to regain their early league form at the weekend when they welcome Newcastle United to the Etihad on Saturday
