Glen Johnson wants his Stoke City teammates to build on their 1-0 win over Aston Villa by picking up more points and continually improving.

Johnson, who signed for Stoke City on a free after his contract with Liverpool expired in the summer, said The Potters have to continue to pick up points in games where their performances deserve them.

Stoke City have played well recently but have been unable to kill games off and have let their opposition back in to the game when they've been in winning positions.

They’ve also lacked a bit of cutting edge in the forward position, but with Marko Arnautovic getting back in to the team, they could improve in those positions.

Johnson set up Arnautovic for his second-half goal in the win over Aston Villa and said that Stoke have played “well” but have not picked up as many points as “we should have" in recent weeks.

The Potters have the confidence to win games

Johnson said Stoke go into every game “searching for the win” and now with three wins on the spin, Stoke now carry that confidence into the international break.

The Potters said the win is “something to build on” when players return from international duty and Stoke City prepare to travel to Swansea City.

Stoke prepared to battle in every game

The win over Aston Villa was one where Stoke had to dig in and hold on, late in to the game.

Johnson said that the had to “dig in” late into the game but that happens when teams are fighting for the game and “throwing everybody forward.”

The right back was also very complimentary towards his team mates, saying that they were “brilliant” and played some “very nice football.”
