Crystal Palace took a point away from Goodison Park after Romelu Lakaku’s close range effort cancelled out Scott Dann’s opener.

Dann’s header looked to have secured another three points for Palace, but Lakaku’s fiftieth Premier League goal for goal meant Everton took a deserved point.

It was a point which took Palace up to sixth position, and three points behind Tottenham. On another night Palace could have nicked all three points; if Jordan Mutch took a bit more care in possession in the final stages.

They also had two shouts for penalties turned away as Mutch was tripped late on, as well as Mile Jedinak being brought down in the box minutes before.

Pardew unhappy with referee and linesman's decision-making

Speaking after the draw at Goodison, Pardew said: "Tonight we have played a team in top form and we still almost won. But for a couple of refereeing decisions that, in my view, they have got wrong, we could have won it.”

Pardew continued by saying: "I think it was obvious from where I was standing that [Jedinak's] shirt was being pulled but the referee and linesman didn't see it, which I'm surprised at.”

Even though Everton equalised, Palace had chances in the final ten minutes; Mutch had a shot which was dragged wide. The former QPR man was also involved in the second penalty appeal when he took a tumble under the challenge of Ramiro Funes Mori.

"The second one was 12 yards from the linesman and I don't think he plays the ball at all and if he can't see that, then there is a problem. But they are swings and roundabout decisions; we accept they don't always go our way because that is part and parcel of the game," said Pardew.

Palace face Southampton at home in the next round of Premier League games, where they'll look to retain their, remarkably high, sixth position.
