Ajax manager Frank de Boer has reiterated that his assistant, Dennis Bergkamp, is settled at the club as rumours continue to link him to head coach opportunities.
Rumours of Bergkamp being a target for Swansea City Chairman Huw Jenkins are continuing to circulate following the sacking of Garry Monk, but de Boer says the Dutchman is happy in Amsterdam.
Bergkamp happy with current role
Speaking to talkSPORT, the Ajax boss replied to the speculation in the media by saying that Bergkamp "is very happy with what he's doing" at the club right now and that he "[doesn't] know if he still has the desire to be a manager."
The former Arsenal striker has been de Boer's assistant since 2011 and so may feel it's time to move onto a bigger role, but he himself even squashed those rumours earlier this week, telling Dutch press that he "currently [has] no ambition to become head coach" and that he has "a job to do at Ajax."
The manager did say that the decision is "up to [Bergkamp]," adding that "there's no doubt he'd be welcomed back" to the Premier League "with open arms" after he "did so much" for the league, but it seems that the assistant has no interest in leaving his current position for the Swansea job.
Bielsa emerges as front-runner for job
In recent days, it is instead Marcelo Bielsa who has been dubbed as the favourite to get the job, with reports of Jenkins being in South America to speak to the former Athletic Bilbao boss just non-stop.
The Argentine's last job was with Marseille in France, but he resigned just one game into the new season after spending the entire 2014-15 campaign with them.
He has been out of work since and it appears Swansea are more than keen to bring him to the Liberty Stadium.
