Norwich City have agreed to a deal with Dinamo Zagreb that will send defender Ivo Pinto to Carrow Road.

The signing is worth £2.2 million, according to Sky Sports, and Norwich just have to gain international clearance to complete paperwork and finalise the transfer. Pinto turns 26 on Thursday, and he'll hope to sign his Premier League contract to add to the celebration.

Young defender struck gold at Zagreb after traveling around on loan

The Portuguese defender has been a part of Zagreb teams in recent years that have been hitting new heights in the UEFA Champions League, facing Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Olympiakos in 2015.

Pinto joined the Prva HNL club on a low-cost transfer from CFR Cluj of Romania's Liga I in 2013, signing a four-year contract. He previously had been a part of Portuguese clubs FC Porto and Rio Ave, but never represented either of them, going out on loans to Gil Vicente, Vitoria Setubal, Covilha, and Uniao Leiria from 2009 to 2012 instead.

The right back represented many of Portugal's youth international teams though when he was younger, making a total of 34 appearances combined for the under-16, under-17, under-18, under-19, and under-21 teams.

Canaries looking for significant improvement

Norwich are aiming to considerably improve talent in their squad, as they sit at 15th in the Premier League midway through the season. The Canaries have 23 points after a 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.

Up next, Norwich face Manchester City in a heavily-anticipated FA Cup match this weekend. They play their next league fixture at Stoke City on Wednesday.

The Canaries have won three of their last four matches, taking down Manchester United, Aston Villa, and previously-mentioned Southampton.
