There is the chance for a glimpse at the FA Cup's magic on Sunday as League One side Scunthorpe United head to Stamford Bridge to face the seven-time winners, Chelsea.

Scunthorpe are coming in off the back of a 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic last weekend, while Chelsea kicked off their New Year with a convincing 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Team news

Chelsea: A great start to 2016 is a good sign for the Blues and a home tie against Scunthorpe gives them a chance to experiment with youth, while building more confidence within the squad. Guus Hiddink will be without star winger Eden Hazard on Sunday as he recovers from a groin injury. Strikers Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao are both expected to miss another game while Gary Cahill may be ready to return to the squad after missing time with an ankle injury.

A handful of youth players may be given the nod as they look to build experience under the new boss. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is likely to start while Kenedy and Bertrand Traore could also find themselves in the side.

Probable XI: Begovic; Ivanovic, Cahill, Zouma, Baba Rahman; Ramires, Loftus-Cheek; Kenedy, Pedro, Oscar; Diego Costa.

Scunthorpe: A 1-1 draw with Wigan last week saw their top-scorer Paddy Madden struggle with a twinge in his hamstring but the striker is expected to be fit for Sunday's trip. New signing Conor Townsend will not be available for selection after having appeared in the competition for Grimsby Town this season.

Tom Hopper and Gary McSheffrey are the only two likely to miss the clash with the Premier League champions.

Probable XI: Daniels; Laird, Clarke, Canavan, Mirfin; Dawson, Bishop, Ness, Williams; van Veen, Madden.

Background

Chelsea have welcomed Scunthorpe to Stamford Bridge at this stage of the competition before. Back in 2005, Scunthorpe took an early lead against the Blues before the home side pulled out a nervy 3-1 win. Scunthorpe have not beaten a top flight side since 1970, when they triumphed over Sheffield Wednesday.

Chelsea have won four of the last nine FA Cups, with their last triumph coming back in 2012. The Blues have in fact won the competition under current manager Guus Hiddink. The Dutchman's first spell in 2009 saw Chelsea capture the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Everton.

Chelsea saw their cup run come to an end last season at the hands of a League One side as Bradford City beat them 4-2 at Stamford Bridge.

Players to look out for

Chelsea - Kenedy: The 19-year old has already grabbed the attention of Chelsea supporters with a handful of impressive cameo performances. A lively winger that can run past players at will with bags of pace, Kenedy is one for the future at the Bridge and Sunday will be another opportunity for the Brazilian to showcase his ability.

Scunthorpe - Paddy Madden: The Irishman is Scunthorpe's top scorer this season, with 11 goals in League One. The striker is struggling with an injury but should be raring to go as he aims to keep the goals coming and prove himself at the home of one of the world's biggest clubs.
