West Bromwich Albion have been active on transfer deadline day as Tony Pulis has moved to bring in Tottenham Hostpur midfielder Alex Pritchard on loan until the end of the season.

The Spurs man was expected to drop down to Championship football once more with Middlesbrough and Burnley both having loan offers accepted by the club.

However, the opportunity for Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino to offer his man Premier League playing time elsewhere was thought to be of greater benefit and so he has switched to the Hawthorns until May.

Pritchard enjoyed success with Brentford

Since moving to White Hart Lane from West Ham United's academy in his youth, the 22 year-old has struggled to break into the Lily Whites' first team, with him making just one appearance this campaign. Instead, Pritchard has spent loan spells at Peterborough United, Swindon Town and most recently Brentford.

In his one-year loan at Griffin Park last term, Pritchard scored 12 goals in 45 appearances. The midfielder helped the Bees reach the Championship play-off semi-finals, where they were defeated by 'Boro.

That season, Pritchard was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Season and was named as the eighth best player in the division.

Pritchard set pieces could benefit Baggies

Known for his technical ability, Pritchard is also adept at dead-ball delivery and set pieces in general.

With the Baggies and in particular Pulis' strength at set piece scenarios, his delivery for the likes of Craig Dawson, Salomon Rondon and Jonas Olsson could make Pritchard could a hit in the West Midlands.

The winger may struggle to make the starting line-up regularly however as he will be up against the likes of James McClean, Stephane Sessegnon and Craig Gardner - to name three. Should he sneak his way into a starting berth though, Pritchard may yet be able to prove himself on the big stage.
