Olympique Lyonnais are looking to extend their record run of four successive Coupe de France Féminine titles to five this Sunday, as they take on Montpellier at the Stade des Alpes.
Coming into the game having just been crowned Division 1 Feminine champions for the 10th year running, Lyon are certainly the favourites, but only they have won this competition more times than Montpellier, who know all about the winning feeling.
In a repeat of last year's final, this promises to be a very interesting match-up, especially with the two to meet again in the league's final round of games just six days later.
Same two at the final hurdle
This will be the 15th Coupe de France Féminine final, and it is the sixth that sees these two teams face off.
Lyon lead the head-to-head in this situation, but only narrowly, having won three of the match-ups to Montpellier's two. The latter two results saw La Paillade deny Lyon a league and cup double in both 2006 and 2007, and they will be hoping to do the same tomorrow.
There's something different about this rivalry too. While OL's clashes with Paris Saint-Germain tend to end in either Lyon hammering their opponents or PSG edging a hard-fought win, most encounters between Montpellier and Lyon have been very close.
In this competition's finals alone, they have never been separated by more than a goal. Last year, Lyon won it 2-1 and the same in 2012, while their success in 2003 was a 4-3 victory. Montpellier, on the other hand, have won both of their finals against France's dominant force on penalties.
The same can be said about the two's meetings in general recently too. In Montpellier back in December, they mustered up a goalless draw between them, which was some improvement for La Paillade after losing both games against Lyon by four-goal margins last season.
Les Fenottes on track for the treble?
These next two weeks are huge for Lyon, who could clinch a treble for just the second time in their history if all goes well for them.
Their 2-1 win over Montpellier back in 2012 in this fixture was part of the last, and only, time they achieved the feat, also pipping Juvisy to the league title by a four-point margin and beating 1. FFC Frankfurt 2-0 in the UEFA Women's Champions League final in the same season.
This year, they have already clinched the league and are 90 minutes away from making it at least a domestic double. Later this month, on Thursday 26 May, they then come up against VfL Wolfsburg in the Champions League final, looking for their third success in the competition and, hopefully for them, their third trophy of the season.
This weekend is a huge chance for Montpellier to play the role of party crashers then, as they look to defy the odds and derail OL's smooth sailing victory train. They've done it before and, with no pressure on them heading into the fixture, they'll be keen to do it again.
