Mourinho praises 'top class' Mkhitaryan

Mkhitaryan played 45 minutes on his debut for his new club and showed what the fuss was all about with some brilliant skill and sharp touches throughout. The Armenian should have had an assist during the game and was really impressive - he'll only get better with fitness. Mourinho was the one who wanted to sign him and after the game, he revealed his delight in what he saw from his new signing calling him "top class."

Mourinho speaking to MUTV about Mkhitaryan's performance against Wigan said "he is a top-class player and is currently at the best stage" of his footballing career at "27/28 years old."

He went on to say that the Armenian is "magnificent the way he thinks about football" which makes him a great footballer and "it's so sweet how he touches the ball."

Mkhitaryan will get even better with more minutes on the pitch, says Mourinho

On where he feels Mkhitaryan's best position is in the team, Mourinho said "he can play in different positions behind the striker" as long as he can have a positive effect on the game as the team needs him to. Mourinho continued to say that Mkhitaryan doesn't have the "sharpness yet but his performance was very positive" and with more playing time he will blend with his new team-mates even better.

Even though the team didn't manage to score when Mkhitaryan was on the field he still left his mark on the pitch with a lot of people praising his quality of play which quickened up United's attacking play. The attacking midfielder will be hoping to continue his good form when United play their next pre-season game against his former team Borussia Dortmund on Friday the 22nd of July in China
