Watford have officially announced that they have captured the signing of Argentine international Roberto Pereyra from Serie A champions Juventus.
After a summer of mass speculation, rumours were put to bed this past week as the playmaker agreed a basic deal to go to Vicarage Road.
The midfielder is a big coup for the side, as they look to build on their strong finish to the season last time out.
Huge coup for Hornets
New head coach Walter Mazzarri has kept no secret that he has been looking for a playmaker all summer, and it appeared that his first choice target was going to remain at the Old Lady.
However, the Italian has his man and the transfer now remains subject of a work permit being granted, but everything should go through fairly easily.
If so, he will be with the Hornets until 2021 after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal, which cost the club around £10 million.
The former Udinese starlet will wear the number 37 shirt for his new side, as he did for his old side, and he is Watford’s second signing within a matter of hours.
Pereyra will bring experience and class
French centre-half Younes Kaboul also signed for the Hornets from Premier League rivals Sunderland and will provide more strength in defence as he helped the Black Cats stay in the top-flight last season.
The defender will wear the number four shirt at the club, after Mario Suarez departed out on loan, but the two additions to the side is sure to make them a contender for a mid-table finish this time around.
Pereyra will bring the quality that Watford so desperately need, and he has a vast amount of experience, despite only being 25-years-old.
He reached the Champions League final with Juve back in 2015, but has also played for Argentina, however, he was overlooked for this summer’s Copa America due to injury concerns.
