With just over one week to go until the transfer window slams shut, it's time to take a look at the Swans’ newest signings so fa,r and look into whether there are still opportunities to strengthen in the days remaining. We will also give the signing a rating out of five based on the reaction of fans and experts.

Mark Birighitti

The first summer signing profiled is Australian goalkeeper, Mark Birighitti. The 25-year-old was snapped up as free agent after being deemed surplus to requirements by Newcastle Jets boss Scott Miller. It has proved to be a rather strange acquisition considering with just eight days left in the window Swansea are yet to release any 'keepers.

That means Francesco Guidolin has a choice of four senior keepers with the likes of Lukasz Fabianski and Kristoffer Nordfelt believed to be higher up the pecking order than the new boy Birighitti. Reaction: 2/5

Leroy Fer

Next to move to the Liberty Stadium was a rather familiar face, Leroy Fer. The Dutch international re-joined the Swans after spending the last four months of the 2015/16 season on loan at the club. The fee is believed to be around the £4.8m mark.

Fer is expected to have more of an impact to the immediate first team squad than Birighitti after seemingly settling straight in to the Swansea style of play, and scoring on his second debut on the opening day of the 2016/17 Premier league season versus BurnleyReaction: 3/5

Mike Van Der Hoorn

The first capture of the summer window was former Netherlands under-21 international, Mike Van Der Hoorn. The Dutchman seemed to be brought in for just back-up when first purchased, but now that club captain Ashley Williams has gone on to a new adventure he could push Jordi Amat for the second centre-back spot?

Van Der Hoorn struggled to tie down a regular place in the Ajax team, forcing him to play the majority of his games in the reserve team last season, but Dutch football expert Michiel Jongsma insists “the Premier League should suit him”. Reaction: 2/5

Fernando Llorente

Moving on, we go to Fernando Llorente. El Rey Leon, or to you and me The Lion King, was brought in by Guidolin after the mass exodus of attackers which saw the likes Alberto Paloschi, Eder, Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew all leave Swansea.

The 31-year-old joined from Europa League holders Sevilla for around £5m. Llorente looks to have found his feet after a good debut performance, and with World Cup and European Championship medals amongst others on Llorente's CV it is sure that he will bring a wealth of experience to the first-team fold. Reaction: 4/5

Borja Baston

Finally Borja ‘Baston’ Gonzalez Tomas, Swansea’s record breaking signing. The £15m man was unveiled by Guidolin on 11 August two days after the deal was expected to be confirmed. The Spaniard has a very respectful goal ratio of exactly one goal every two games, scoring 40 goals over a two-year period with Zaragoza (loan) and Eibar (loan) where he racked up 80 appearances.

His departure from Atlético Madrid, the club he had played for since 1996 as a 4-year-old goalkeeper was met by disgruntled Atleti fans as he was seen as a potential star for the Spanish giants. Reaction: 5/5

Areas for improvement

After Ashley Williams' departure there is a distinct lack of natural leaders in the squad, and with centre-back being the only area on the pitch not two have two players per position it seems that the priority will indeed be a prominent defender capable of filling Williams’ boots. Guidolin has hinted that he seems happy with the rest of his squad suggesting that there will not be any more signings this summer apart from the expected centre-half.
