Mauricio Pochettino had welcome news regading the fitness of Hugo Lloris when speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Liverpool game on Saturday.

The Tottenham Hotspur boss revealed that Lloris is well on schedule for a return, but admitted that he was extremely unlikely to be involved against Jürgen Klopp's Reds.

Lloris picked up opening day injury

Lloris has been unavailable for action since Spurs' first game of the Premier League season, where he hobbled off clutching his hamstring after just 38 minutes, replaced by Michel Vorm in the 1-1 draw. Conducting scans after the game, Spurs revealed that their captain was likely to be out for four weeks with the injury.

They've done okay in his absence so far, keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend, but it'll be interesting to see how they fare against Liverpool without him on Saturday.

Recovery is "very good" according to Poch

Fortunately, they're unlikely to be without their star shot-stopper for much longer, with Pochettino revealing that Lloris' recovery is "very good".

He said that "it's difficult for Saturday but it's sure that after the international break he's with us again and available for the team," Lloris not having been called up by the French national team due to his injury.

Pochettino explained that Spurs are "happy because it wasn't a big issue" and now "think he's available very soon"

Spurs will be hoping to have Lloris back for their next Premier League game against Stoke City on September 10, but even more so for their first Champions League group game, set to be played a few days later than that.

The Lilywhites have been placed alongside CSKA Moscow, Bayer Leverkusen and AS Monaco in Group E of the competition after the draw was conducted on Thursday afternoon.
