Jeremain Lens is set for a season-long loan to Fenerbahce, he has told the media.

Lens has been out of favour at Sunderland since the man who signed him, Dick Advocaat, departed a few games into the 2015-16 season, with neither Sam Allardyce nor David Moyes appearing keen on the Dutchman.

However, this move will see him reunite with Advocaat, who he also worked with at PSV Eindhoven in their homeland of the Netherlands.

The coach signed Lens for £8 million from Dynamo Kyiv just 12 months ago.

Lens confirms the move

Speaking to Fox Sports, Lens did not hide his feelings when it came to discussing his time on Wearside.

"Sunderland would just love to get rid of me," he said, emphasising his frustration by adding: "I did not play, was not even on the bench. I just had a problem with the club.."

He then confirmed that he will undergo a medical on Tuesday in Turkey, expressing his excitement about the move.

"I'm looking forward to it. It's a nice transfer," Lens said.

He described Fenerbahce as "a great club" who will provide him with "a great challenge," as well as the chance "to get more playing time."

The Dutchman's desire to move comes from his desire to represent his country again too.

"I did not find it strange that I was missing the last couple of times in the national squad. It was understandable because I was not playing," he said.

Therefore, he believes the move could "perhaps" be "a good step" towards playing international football again.

And with Advocaat the man in charge, a man who says he has "a good relationship with" and a man who "knows [his] qualities," Lens will hope to get back to his best in Turkey.
