Middlesbrough have submitted their 25-man squad for the Premier League this afternoon.

There were no major omissions from the list, which included all four goalkeepers as well as fringe players Carlos de Pena, Julien De Sart and James Husband.

Players under the age of 21 are not required to take up one of the 25 available slots, so new arrivals Calum Chambers and Adama Traore will also be eligible to play.

Clubs had until 4pm today to submit their squad lists following a record breaking transfer window, in which Premier League clubs spent a record £1.194bn.

Karanka’s job was made easier by Boro’s business on transfer deadline day, which saw wingers Albert Adomah and Adam Reach leave the club.

Adomah moved to Aston Villa for undisclosed fee, while Reach signed for Sheffield Wednesday for a reported £5 million.

29-year-old defender Alex Baptiste also departed, joining Preston North End on a season-long loan.

Space for four keepers

Interestingly, Greek goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopulos kept the number 1 jersey, despite the fact that 37-year-old hasn’t featured in Boro’s opening fixtures.

Konstantopulos was the club’s first choice shot-stopper in the Championship last season, but appears to have slipped down the pecking order following the signings of Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan.

Valdes, who is currently out with a hamstring issue, has been given the number 26 shirt while Guzan will take number 12.

Fellow keeper Tomas Mejias has also been included in the squad, and will wear the number 13 should he feature.

That is despite Karanka’s claim that one of his keeper would leave before transfer window shut.

Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo will keep the number 10 shirt, while new arrivals Chambers and Traore will wear 25 and 37 respectively.

The pair could make their debuts when Boro take on Crystal Palace at the Riverside next weekend.
