Manchester United's Luke Shaw has withdrawn from the England squad as a precaution but should be fit for the Manchester derby next weekend.

Shaw sent home as a 'precaution', says Allardyce

The full-back was called up to the England squad for the first time since he recovered from breaking his leg and was looking forward to playing some part in the game against Slovakia, but Sam Allardyce felt it was right to not overwork the defender.

Shaw has now returned to United to train and will be closely monitored to see if he will be available for the big match next weekend. The new England boss though says he see's no reason why he won't be fit as he isn't injured.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference before the Slovakia game, Allardyce said that with Shaw "it's a slight problem with the leg" which is something that needs to be taking care off as he had a "little ache" in it.

The boss continued to say that "with what he's been through" it was clear that "we didn't want to take a chance" which was good to hear,

Allardyce calmed the fears of many United fans by saying that he would "be surprised if he wasn't okay for United's next game" which is very important given how well he has started the season for the club.

Shaw will be determined to be fit for the Manchester Derby

One person who will be very happy to hear that no risks are being taken with Shaw is Jose Mourinho. The United boss is already unhappy with the timing of the International break.

The key now is that with Shaw is that he is given a bit of the rest in the next couple of days as it was always going to be very difficult for him to play so many games in a short period of time given how long he was out. T

he defender will be determined to be fit for the first derby of the season at Old Trafford against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at Saturday lunchtime, with rivals City one of just two other teams to have started the season with three wins from three.
