Swansea City 2-2 Chelsea - Player Ratings: Blues dominate but have Costa to thank for a point

Diego Costa stars yet again but Chelsea drop points at The Liberty Stadium.

Chelsea were complacent in their trip to Swansea, coming away with just a point.

After taking the lead through Diego Costa, a pair of defensive errors put Chelsea on the verge of losing their first game of the season but Costa's bicycle kick with ten minutes to play meant the points were shared on Sunday afternoon.

Goalkeeper and defence

Thibaut Courtois (5): The Belgian had little to do in the first half but when called upon in the second half, misjudged a cross and gave away a needless penalty. Courtois' mistake was coupled with a soft second goal for Swansea, where Courtois probably should've done better.

Branislav Ivanovic (6): The right-back didn't do much wrong throughout and had a big hand in Chelsea's equaliser. A solid shift from the man that could find himself on the bench next week after the arrival of Marcos Alonso.

John Terry (7): Chelsea's captain was back to his usual self throughout the game, providing plenty of key blocks at his near post and even playing on one foot in the last few minutes. Another good performance from the skipper.

Gary Cahill (5): A solid first half performance was quickly forgotten about as the England international was caught dwelling on the ball before Leroy Fer stole it and scored Swansea's second of the game. Cahill did manage to provide two super blocks as stoppage time approached but the mistake cost Chelsea dearly.

Cesar Azpilicueta (6): A quiet performance from the left-back, who failed to get going as Chelsea went forward. Defensively, Azpilicueta had his sloppy moments but did his job well enough for the most part.

Midfielders and forwards

N'Golo Kante (6): A typical N'Golo Kante performance as he ran everywhere and anywhere, breaking up Swansea's attacks. A few mistakes from Kante were surprising but overall, a solid outing for the summer signing.

Nemanja Matic (5): The midfielder was underwhelming in midfield and constantly slowed down attacks for Chelsea. Matic could find himself replaced by Fabregas next week.

Oscar (7): Another good shift from the midfielder, including setting up Diego Costa's first goal brilliantly but two great chances towards the end put a slight damper on his performance.

Eden Hazard (5): After an electric start to the season, Sunday's match was a disappointment for Hazard. The superstar started strong early but as the game wore on, he failed to make an impact and grew frustrated.

Willian (5): Last season's Player of the Year looked poor from start to finish and was rightfully substituted in the second half. The Brazilian failed to make an impact going forward and was a passenger for a large part of the game.

Diego Costa (9): The Spaniard continued his fine form this season by grabbing a brace, including an exceptional bicycle kick to level the score at 2-2. Costa was up to his usual tricks and was involved both on and off the ball. His presence unsettled the Swansea defence throughout the game and his goals were thoroughly deserved.

Cesc Fabregas (6): Another late introduction but continued to prove to Antonio Conte what he can offer. Instrumental in the equaliser and his eye for a pass kept Swansea on their heels in the dying minutes.

Victor Moses (5): A late half-chance fell to Moses but the winger could only smash it over the bar. Moses looked lively after coming on but couldn't grab that all important winner.
