West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has said that he has been disappointed with the side's recent results against Watford and West Brom, ahead of their EFL Cup tie with football league minnows Accrington Stanley.

Far from pleased

It has been far from the start to the season that Bilic will have hoped for, winning just the one game so far this season.

The Hammers were looking to bounce back after their 4-2 defeat to Watford at the London Stadium as they travelled to take on West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

However it was another heavy defeat, with goals from Nacer Chadli, Salomon Rondon and James McClean gave Tony Pulis' side a 4-2 win.

Bilic's men will be looking to bounce back when they take on Accrington Stanley, but in his pre-match press conference the manager shared his disappointment at the side's recent results.

“The boys know I am not happy. We spoke about it after the West Brom game and I want to see a reaction from the guys. We have to do it in games.” he told whufc.com.

Bilic continued: “We are going to play a mixed team. It is not that we are under-estimating the competition or the opposition, but we need some changes," and admitted “As I said previously some of the players deserve to get a chance.”

Instant reaction

It was set to be a historic season for the Hammers, having moved into the London Stadium off the back of a excellent campaign, along with a host of new signings. One of those was former Valencia man Sofiane Feghouli, and he said that the side need to have a instant bounce back after their poor performances.

“In the first half we conceded three and got ourselves into trouble through our own errors." he told the club's website. "We saw an entirely different side to the team in the second half and now, we need to do everything we can to win our next game in the League Cup."

He continued: “Each and every one of us will take a long look at ourselves and we all know that we need to do more when we wear the West Ham colours."

Feghouli concluded: “We can’t afford to make any mistakes and as I said, we all need to evaluate our performances and to do more. We can’t just play one half of football, we need to give 100% and be fully concentrated for ninety minutes in every game.”

West Ham United will take on Accrington Stanley in the third round of the EFL Cup at the London Stadium on Wednesday, September 21 with kick-off at 7:45pm BST.
