Liverpool proved once again why they are dark horses in this year's Premier League when they dismantled 10-man Hull City 5-1 at Anfield, but which Tigers players fared better than others?
Goalkeeper and Defence
David Marshall: Handed a first league start, however nobody will be envious of how his afternoon transpired. He couldn’t get anywhere near the three goals from open play and was unlucky on James Milner’s two penalties. Made some good saves to keep the score somewhat respectable. (6 out of 10)
Ahmed Elmohamady: Decent early on before his sending off. Did obviously lean into the ball which stopped a certain goal. He had to go and left his team with a huge uphill battle. (4)
Jake Livermore: One of just a few Tigers to look comfortable on the ball and someone who can be relatively happy about his performance. He showed why he has been kept in the starting line up ahead of Harry Maguire. (6)
Curtis Davies: His most uncomfortable performance of the season as he was dragged out of position by the technical ability of Liverpool stars and the fluid attacking play. He did manage to regain his composure after the break but the game was long gone. (5)
Andrew Robertson: Extremely unlucku to concede the second penalty as replays suggest Daniel Sturridge may have dived. He rarely went over the halfway line as he was pinned back by Liverpool’s attacking players. (5)
Midfield and attack
Sam Clucas: Toughest game yet for the young midfielder. However, he was, by far, not the reason why Hull faltered as he kept his head up to make some useful contributions. He wasn’t given any breathing space by Liverpool’s high pressure. (6)
Tom Huddlestone: Wasn’t allowed to play his usual style of football as he was smothered by Liverpool. He was booked in the first half and then bought off at half time as he didn’t have a positive influence on the game. (4)
Ryan Mason: Another debut but Mason’s was more disappointing than Marshall’s. He was booked and struggled to make an impact on the game before being bought off with just over 15 minutes to go. (4)
Robert Snodgrass: His achievements from this season seemed long gone at Anfield as he failed to make an impact. Had to track Milner all game but he did set up the consolation goal and did send a free kick just over the bar. (5)
Adama Diomande: Sacrificed for the second time in a week after a defensive red card and was visibly angry at this. Because of this, had a limited performance. A short pass in behind was all that he did. (5)
Abel Hernandez: It’s starting to sound like a broken record for Hernandez, but again he was isolated up top with no support in attack due to the effort put into defending. (5)
Substitutes
David Meyler: Came on as a makeshift right back and was in the right place at the right time to hammer home the consolation goal. (6)
Harry Maguire: Was bought into the fray in an attempt to stop Liverpool’s attacks in a three-man system. (6)
Markus Henriksen: No real impact as Liverpool closed the game out. (5)
