It means that United sit in 6th position going into the international break while stoke move off the bottom to 19th. Stoke will be the happier team from the game as United really needed to win the game.

That is a terrible result for United as they really should have won the game given how many chances they had. Martial finally gave the host's the lead in the 70th minute but a terrible mistake from De Gea allowed Joe Allen to score an equaliser.

For the visitors, they will be without first choice goalkeeper Jack Butland due to an ankle injury which he had an operation on. Hughes at his pre-match press conference said that Joe Allen is a doubt for the game with a hamstring injury he picked up in the last match against West Brom. The good news through for the Potters is that Xherdan Shaqiri, who played in the last game after six weeks out injured, is once again available.

In terms of injuries ahead of the game, Mourinho has said that he hopes to have Luke Shaw and Henrikh Mkhitaryan available for the game after recovering from injuries. Phil Jones though is still out with a knee injury that he picked up in training. Mourinho rested a few of his players for the game against Zorya Luhansk in midweek but they are expected to come straight back into the team for this weekend's crucial game in the Premier League.

The problem though for the Potters is that since their promotion to the Premier League in 2008, they have lost on every single occasion they have visited the Theatre of Dreams. This includes last season when United won the corresponding fixture 3-0 with goals from Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney.

On the other hand, Mark Hughes side have started the season in terrible form as they sit 19th in the Premier League table after six games. The only two points they have picked up this season has been at home to Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion, so they are in real need of a big victory to kick-start their season.

Jose Mourinho's side will be full of confidence after what transpired last weekend when they defeated defending champions Leicester City 4-1 at Old Trafford. They then backed that victory up with a 1-0 victory against FC Zorya Luhansk in the Uefa Europa League on Thursday evening. Overall, three victories in one week has piled the optimism back into the club again after three successive defeats before that.

Both teams will be looking to pick up a victory to go into the international break on a high. United for the reason a win would mean that they would win four matches in a row in all competitions while Stoke are looking for their first victory of the season.
