The Premier League is within the midst of the international break but there is no rest period for some of Hull City's key players as they represent their nation in vital World Cup Qualifiers.

"It would be a huge result if we do win"

Goalkeeper David Marshall has recently been named by Mike Phelan as a crucial signing to strengthen Hull's relegation resistance, though the experienced campaigner is now turning his attention to Lithuania as he explained the importance of earning three points for Scotland. Marshall admitted "it would be a huge result for us if we do win".

Following a 5-1 demolition of Malta, aided by a Robert Snodgrass hat-trick, the former Cardiff City goalkeeper is hoping his colleagues can build on that momentum. “We can take the confidence from that result into a home game at Hampden. It is always a great atmosphere at home and if we can get the three points then it would be a great start for us.”

Snodgrass was the hero against Malta and is looking forward to a potential first start at Hampden Park for nearly three years. He explained "it's special. To be honest it's a great feeling. Getting the chance to play for your country first and foremost but to be involved when you're doing well is great". Though the midfielder also called on his side to take their chances against Lithuania, explaining "we need to be patient in the game and be ruthless.”

Maloney relieved to be recalled

Shaun Maloney makes up the Hull triumvirate as he finds himself recalled after being dropped for the Malta game. The midfielder admitted "I was pretty envious watching the team but I spoke to the manager and he explained why he did it".

Maloney missed a large period of pre-season due to injury but believes he did enough to impress Scotland manager Gordan Strachan in recent sparing appearances for Hull. "It’s just one of those things, you have to come again at your club and then hopefully, if you do get selected, try to do enough to make sure you merit another selection"

Maloney, Snodgrass and Marshall will all be hoping for a successful two international matches and bring some much needed momentum back to Hull as they continue to slip towards the relegation zone.
