Excited by their three-match unbeaten league run prior to the international break, the Saints will be very confident of keeping their good record alive when they will host Burnley at St Mary’s for the second Super Sunday game.

Southampton have not lost at home so far this season, currently with a win and two draws of their own turf as they look to climb into the top eight come to the final whistle.

Following their promotion last season, visitors Burnley have adapted well being back in the Premier League despite their last-gasp defeat to Arsenal before the break.

Team News

This weekend the Saints will be without full-backs Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand, as right back Cedric picked up a foot problem in his last outing against Leicester City, whilst Bertrand suffered a hamstring injury on international duty.

After picking up a minor calf strain that forced him to withdraw his name from the England squad, Burnley goalkeeper and captain Tom Heaton should be fit and at Sean Dyche’s disposal.

Match stats

Saints have not lost a game in the Premier League for over a month as French manager Claude Puel is starting to find his feet in the domestic league and at the club.

Although Charlie Austin has scored twice and has been sent off once in his two prior Premier League games against Burnley.

However, Burnley has only won once in their five matches and boss Dyche desperately needs to find a quick fix to his defensive problems which could possibly see them in trouble in the future.

Looking at the head-to-head, Southampton have the better record, as Saints having only suffered just on defeat in their last 14 home league games with Burnley, winning serval and drawing six.
