West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic, has admitted that little has changed about his side's situation, despite getting their first win in five matches with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
It is a cruel league
There was pressure on the Hammers ahead of their trip to Selhurst Park, but they put in a solid performance against Alan Pardew's side. Manuel Lanzini got the only goal of the game, and managed to hold out despite the dismissal of Aaron Cresswell. However, Bilic admitted that the three points hasn't changed much about their current situation.
"It's a very cruel league. We spoke about this a few times with the guys in the press conferences at Rush Green," He told Sky Sports. "I didn't stop believing. These three points aren't going to change [league position] if we stop doing what we did today. But this league is very cruel."
He continued: "If we think for one second that now we are OK and we are going to win points or games just because we turn up, and just because we won. No."
Bilic concluded: "There is no yesterday in football. But this has to be a pattern for us in a positive way, what we have to do, only to come into a position to win football games in the Premier League. If you're not like this then you don't have a chance."
Defended well
It was a solid performance all around from Bilic's side, Adrian stood above the others with the highlight been his save from Conor Wickham in extra-time, and he praised his defence after the contest.
"I think we fought until the end with one player less, which was very difficult because they pushed and their fans pushed a lot,” he told whufc.com. “We defended so well until the last minute and finally we got the win and it’s a massive three points for us."
Adrian concluded: "It would have probably changed the game if he’d scored but he missed the penalty and we continued fighting in the second half and I think we deserved the win.”
West Ham United will take on Middlesbrough at the London Stadium on Saturday, October 22 with kick-off at 3pm BST.
