West Ham United captain Mark Noble, has praised his side's "tremendous" performance after the Hammers secured their first victory in five matches with a narrow 1-0 win over London rivals Crystal Palace.

Looking like a team

The pressure was firmly on Noble, his teammates, and manager Slaven Bilic, as they traveled to Selhurst Park still in the bottom three of the Premier League table.

They managed to put in an excellent performance, with Manuel Lanzini grabbing the only goal of of a drama-filled clash, with Christian Benteke's penalty miss and Aaron Cresswell's dismissal, and the skipper praised his side's performance.

“I thought we were tremendous," Noble told whufc.com. "They’ve got big players like Connor Wickham and Christian Benteke up front, but I thought our defence did a magnificent job, they dealt with them incredibly, it’s a top, top win for us."

He continued: “I said in an interview the other day that everyone here really does care, and I think we showed that," and the skipper firmly stated.

"We looked at how Palace play and everything goes through Benteke so we knew we had to deal with that threat. Cheik is great in the air, then alongside Reidy and Angelo, obviously Cress back in the side, we played like a proper team.”

Get a run going

The victory has seen the Hammers pick up four points in their last two matches and seen them climb up to 15th, however they will face a tough test when they welcome Sunderland to the London Stadium who are still looking for their first win, and Noble stated the importance of getting a run of wins together.

He said: “It’s going to be a tough game, they need the points too. By all accounts we’ve had a terrible start, but now we’re only a point behind Leicester who won the league last year."

Noble concluded: “If we start to put a few wins together, we’ll start to climb the table and get to where we want to be.”
