Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, has been handed a one-game touchline and a £50,000 fine from the Football Association.

Accepting the punishment

It was announced that the Portuguese coach will be missing the match at Swansea City on Sunday after he admitted to using inappropriate words towards referee Mark Clattenburg during Saturday's 0-0 draw with Burnley.

It is believed that he confronted the official in the Old Trafford tunnel at half-time after Clattenburg's decision not to award a penalty in the first 45 minutes. Mourinho was punished and sent to the stands for the second period.

The 53-year-old accepted that his comments on referee Anthony Taylor, ahead of their 0-0 clash with Liverpool was improper conduct, and was subsequently fined and warned of his future conduct.

Making a return

Otherwise for United, this week saw the return to the first-team fold for a familiar face, with Bastian Schweinsteiger back in first-team training.

The German has been frozen out of Mourinho's squad, training with the U21's and U23's and is expected to leave in January, and ahead of the clash with Fenerbahce, Mourinho explained the decision to bring Schweinsteiger back into the fold.

"Schweinsteiger is back," said Mourinho. "It was based on the fact we are in this time of the season where it is hard to train with all the players."

He continued: "Looking at Bastian and the way he was working professionally with the fitness coach, we think that it is a human and professional decision to bring him back to the team."

Mourinho concluded: "If he stays with us he becomes one more option. In this moment we have no problems in midfield like we do in defence, but if we do he is one more option."

Manchester United will take on Fenerbahce in the Europa League at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium on Thursday, November 3 with kick-off at 6pm BST.
