That brings to an end to today's live Premier League game between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. I have been Brandon Sayer taking you through the game and until next time, have a good night.

Spurs now will need to bounce back quickly as they now are only two points in front of fourth place. But now they must take the defeat and move on.

The job was done in the first half for Liverpool as Mane's two goals in two minutes has seen them overcome a huge test by defeating a very good Spurs side.

90+4' - The referee blows his whistle to end the game. Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur.

90+2' - Liverpool substitution: Mane is replaced by Trent Alexander Arnold.

90' - The referee has decided to add on four minutes at the end of the second half.

83' - Toby Alderweireld receives a yellow card as Spurs keep racking them up in this second half.

82' - Both teams make a substitution. For Liverpool, Lucas is replaced by Klavan. For Spurs, Son is replaced by Vincent Janssen.

78' - Dier is the next Spurs player to go receive a yellow card for tripping Emre Can.

77' - Tottenham substitution: Moussa Dembele is replaced by Moussa Sissoko.

74' - Coutinho goes within a whisker of scoring Liverpool's third goal of the game as his shot from the edge of the box just sneaks wide of the goal.

70' - Winks receives a yellow card for a late tackle on Milner.

68' - Tottenham substitution: Eriksen is replaced by Harry Winks.

68' - Milner is the next to receive a yellow card for a late challenge on Kane.

67' - Kane receives a yellow card for a late tackle on Clyne.

63' - The game at the minute has became very scrappy with spurs unable to get on top at all to get back in the game.

56' - Joel Matip receives a yellow card for a late challenge on Harry Kane.

53' - Henderson receives a yellow card for a foul on Dele Alli. The crowd weren't happy with that decision at all.

46' - The referee blows his whistle to begin the second half. Game on!

Well what a first half that has been for Liverpool. Sadio Mane has once again showed why he was missed while he was away at the African Cup of Nations by scoring both goals during the half. It means now that Spurs have a mountain to climb in the second half and they will have to as this loss could be vital in their season. Liverpool have really responded well to their bad run of form in 2017. Stay tuned as we bring you the second half live in a few minutes time.

45+1' - The referee blows his whistle to end the first half. Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur.

45' - The referee has decided to add on one minute at the end of the first half.

41' - Lucas should have made it three for Liverpool but he saw his header from a corner go well over the bar.

35' - Eriksen's free kick from the edge of the Liverpool box landed on the top of the net. Spurs are starting to have more possession of the ball in recent minutes. It's vital they get the next goal in the game if they want to stay in this contest.

32' - Coutinho is next to test Lloris in goal as the Spurs defence continue to make mistake after mistake.

28' - Son receives a yellow card for a terrible challenge on Roberto Firmino. Other referees might have shown a red card for that challenge.

26' - Finally Spurs wake up as Son was played through one on one with Mignolet by Davies but the kepper stood up strong to keep the ball out. This game is so end to end right now.

23' - Lloris makes another brilliant diving save to deny Mane from the edge of the box as Liverpool are starting to run riot here at Anfield.

22' - Lloris makes a brilliant save to deny Mane from scoring his hattrick. Spurs almost shot themselves in the foot again as a bad back pass from Davies played Mane in but Lloris got the better of him again.

18' - Goal for Liverpool! Mane scores his second goal of the game to make it 2-0 to Liverpool. The goal came from a bad mistake by Dier and after making saves from Lallana and Firmino, Lloris couldn't keep Mane's shot out of the net.

16' - Goal for Liverpool! Sadio Mane is the man to give Liverpool the lead in such a crucial game. The goal was created by Wijnaldum, who played a lovely ball through for the winger and he made no mistake by smashing the ball into the net. How will Spurs respond to this setback? We are about to find out.

11' - Christian Eriksen fired the ball over Simon Mignolet's crossbar after a brilliant passing move from the visitors, who have been on the back at the start of the game.

7' - It has been a very encouraging start for the Reds as they go in search of trying to get an early goal to settle any of the nerves that they might have had before this huge game.

1' - The referee blows his whistle to begin the game. Game on!

Tottenham Hotspur substitutes: Vorm, Trippier, Wimmer, Winks, Sissoko, Nkoudou, Janssen.

Liverpool substitutes: Karius, Moreno, Klavan, Can, Alexander-Arnold, Origi, Sturridge.

Tottenham Hotspur starting XI: Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Dier, Davies; Dembele, Wanyama; Eriksen, Alli, Son; Kane.

Liverpool starting XI: Mignolet; Clyne, Matip, Lucas, Milner; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Lallana; Mane, Firmino, Coutinho.

Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana are Liverpool's biggest concerns fitness-wise ahead of the game. Lucas Leiva stepped in ahead of Lovren last weekend, and is likely to do so again should the Croat be unavailable. Georginio Wijnaldum would probably be the man to replace Lallana if he wasn't to start, although Wijnaldum could come in for Emre Can anyway. Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge may well feel that they both deserve starts given that the Reds have scored just nine in 11, but the three-pronged attack of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are all likely to keep their places.

Liverpool's form coming into the game is a huge concern. They've won just one in 10, and just one game in 2017, which was against Plymouth Argyle. With no league victories since the turn of the year, they've slipped completely out of the title race and even fallen out of the top four, into fifth. A win today is crucial. Their most recent disaster came last Saturday away to Marco Silva's energetic Hull City side who outran Klopp's men and outscored them at the KCOM Stadium, the hosts winning 2-0. That came after some renewed belief delivered by Liverpool in a 1-1 home draw with league leaders Chelsea.

The most recent meeting took place in August when the game finished 1-1. James Milner opened the scoring for Jurgen Klopp's side from the penalty spot before Danny Rose equalised 18 minutes from the end of the game to rescue an important point for the Lilywhites on their home ground.

The problem Tottenham have is that they have a terrible record against the Reds in recent times as they haven't been on the winning side in the previous eight meetings, losing five and drawing three. They've only won twice at Anfield in the Premier League era.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have been on a brilliant run in recent weeks in the Premier League since losing 1-0 to Manchester United in December and are currently on a nine game unbeaten run which has seen them turn into the closest challengers to Antonio Conte's Chelsea side.

Going into the game, Spurs are in a much better position in the table as they sit in second position, four points in front of Liverpool, who currently are in fifth place.

In terms of the top four race, which is really starting to heat up, this is a huge game for both sides as they go in search of getting three vital points at such a vital stage of the season with the finish line in sight.
