Ipswich Town have had a bid accepted for Cardiff City midfielder Emyr Huws. The price is unknown at this point. Huws spent the latter half of last season on loan at the Tractor Boys, scoring three times in 14 appearances.

Huws, who only signed a new three year deal with Cardiff this time last year, impressed Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy. McCarthy said that Huws “outstanding” when the midfielder arrived last season, also saying he was “one of the best players January onwards”.

Neil Warnock, the Bluebirds current manager, said that Huws had to fund his own move in January as Ipswich couldn’t afford to pay all of his wages. The 23 year old paid some of his wages, a move Warnock says he found “incredible”.

What do we know about Huws?

The Wales international turned professional with Manchester City before leaving for Wigan after loan spells with Northampton, Birmingham and the Latics. While with Wigan, he went on loan again to Huddersfield where he played 30 times, scoring on five occasions.

At the end of that season he moved to Cardiff where he only featured three times before moving to Ipswich on loan until the end of the 2016-17 season.

Huws does have 11 appearances for the Welsh national team, making his debut for the national team in 2014, and has scored once for his country.

City midfielder also interests McCarthy

Another player who is on the radar of the Tractor Boys is 20 year old Bersant Celina. The Manchester City wide midfielder spent last season on loan at Dutch side FC Twente, scoring five times in 27 appearances. The Kosovo international has made four first team appearances for City, and was involved in the 5-1 loss in the FA Cup to Chelsea in February 2016.

McCarthy is impressed with midfielder, who can play behind the striker as well, as he looks for a replacement for player of the year Tom Lawrence, who has returned to parent club Leicester City following the end of his loan deal.

Ipswich will hope to get both loan deals finished by the end of this week, ahead of pre season. Ipswich start the new championship season at home to Birmingham City on the 5th of August.
