Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner was elated after the Terriers picked up a priceless point at champions Manchester City. The point now puts Huddersfield one more point away from ensuring a second season of top-flight football at the John Smith's Stadium.

Wagner can't express "how proud" he is of club

In trying to find words to express his feelings, the manager said “To say I’m proud is not enough to explain how I’m feeling. “We found a good idea to try and neutralise the opponent and all the players were outstanding today".

He also praised City, stating "well done to Manchester City for a fantastic season” in which they lost twice and scored a league-record 102 goals to claim their third Premier League trophy in seven years.

Terriers boss praises defensive effort, "over the moon" with result

With such a potent attack facing them, Wagner was happy with Huddersfield's approach to the game: “we had more chances in the first-half, but we were actually better defensively in the second-half. We restricted the champions to shots from distance”.

He defended the squad to anyone who thought luck may have been a factor in the draw: “this was anything but lucky; we deserved this point today. I’m over the moon with what the players have done. We fought and tried everything and the players made the impossible possible”.

"The players knew the plan", says Wagner

the players knew the plan, but you have to be switched on for the full 90 minutes against this Manchester City side. That’s what we did very, very well today”, expressed Wagner.

“this gives us belief but to be totally honest I’ve had belief in this group of players since pre-season. Every player & member of the backroom staff believes. We saw desire & togetherness on an incredible afternoon. “Now we recover & prepare for Wednesday” against Chelsea.
